email (backdated to friday evening). TO: zosiaaah@hotmail.com FROM: cskov@ivi.edu.au SUBJECT:Happy birthday!
In Danish. Zee har fødselsdag og det har hun jo og det er i dag! And so on, you know how it goes. :)
I know you've probably had enough of Mum telling you how you're a woman now, so I'm not going to bother. But I do want to say how proud I am of you. I know you have a little more time before you go to university, but there are some life-changing moments ahead of you in the near future, and I wish I could be there to watch you navigate everything. But I know you're going to do just fine. Mum sent me a video of your practice the other day, you're so lucky to be so talented. You outstrip me with my silly Vol powers by a mile. I hope I get a performance firsthand when I get back.
Of course that doesn't mean I don't want to hear from you now. I check my inbox every day for your updates, and I hope you know that stalking your Facebook is a poor substitute for your emails. So please take pity on your poor imprisoned sister and indulge me in this. :) I know it's a pain in the ass to ask you to Skype all the time, but you know that some people have it a lot worse! Like the Americans, it is 3AM for their families in the US while it is Internet accessible hours here in Australia. You just have to remember to say hello before you go to lunch, is that so much to ask?
Anyways, didn't mean for this become a nagging post. I'll take you to our favourite Vaffelbageriet when I get back for Christmas break, we can split the Amerikaner even. I can't believe I'm going to miss the first week or two of Jul! I imagine the school will try to get things festive, but there's no substitute for Christmas in Copenhagen with you and Mum and my dad and Andreas. I'm counting the days.
I ordered a little something for you online with the allowance they are giving us, hopefully it should be getting to you soon if it isn't there already. You better be going to Tivoli today with that boy. I know it's cheesy, but you'll love it. [...] It's your birthday and it should be everything you want it to be.
