"I don't know," Anton replied vaguely, shrugging. "I guess I don't - didn't think I was good enough. Because you're... well. Perfect." Another nervous laugh. He neglected to mention that he still didn't really feel like he was good enough to be anything other than a friend. Clearly, Mitzi disagreed with him, though, so he decided he wasn't going to protest. He too, however, was more than a little worried that he could be ruining the great relationship that they already had - what if she learned too much about him, only to be disappointed in him?
"You're my best friend here, too. I've never met a girl like you before," he said sheepishly, staring intently at the floor. He wasn't sure how things like this were supposed to go, as this as a situation that was entirely new to him, and even more difficult to navigate than being shipped away to a superpowered school.
