DISCLAIMER: All of the Danish ideas within pretty much are care of the amazing, wonderful Jen.
While Hedda would have liked nothing better than to spice things up with some contraband substances, tonight was mostly PG fun. But PG fun is still fun, you guys. Having heard through that metaphorical grapevine that Sel just might be able to produce alcohol, Hedda invited him along (also, in case that makes her sound like a user and abuser, she is a-ok with others bringing friends). There is a chance, therefore, if the night wears on and Sel feels up to obliging them, that they may have had access to libations. Sadly, though, there is no Baltic Sea Spirit on hand.
So picture this: you walk into a room that makes you feel like you just stepped into an IKEA magazine. Kidding, actually, but Hedda put some effort into getting that good old Nordic vibe. Which to Hedda really just meant a lot of blankets and pillows, a lot of cozy candles and some cocoa. And don't worry, if you're afraid of getting warm, Hedda kept a steady air flow moving through the room: Nordic comfy sweats and cozy wear totally appropriate. She printed a shit ton of pictures out from the internet and plastered the walls with them; there was a wall for each country, set up somewhat geographically, and she'd put tables out in front of each one for food. Naturally, the Danish table was especially full and at the center in a place of honour sat Apple Charlotte for the love of her life, Clea. And a shit ton of liquorice flavoured treats.
When everyone arrived, there would have been a horrible mix of traditional Nordic music on -- a sampling from each country. She also handed out viking hats (don't ask how she acquired them) and little flags and had face painting supplies on hand, should you feel the need to demonstrate your natural pride. Or wait until Benjamin falls asleep and paint a penis on his cheek. But within an hour, things mellowed out and stopped being so themey. The lights got more dim, the music more contemporary, and ultimately the evening became about getting to know one another, alleviating a bit of homesickness, and having a fun, chill time.
