TANJA: People had started taking injured students to the Library instead of the medical centre, and after arriving she set about helping make sure that Bryn had got some care that hadn’t come from the IVI staff. She was sure that it wasn’t as good care, but it was safe. Instead of leaving and finding somewhere safe to stay she lingered, and eventually volunteered herself to help. Her power wasn’t still completely in check, so she was careful to stay away from live power outlets just in case. She had been there a little while when she noticed a familiar figure in the room. Her hands flew to her mouth to cover her gasp of shock; was Taki okay? Tanja almost knocked over a pile of books in her haste to reach him, heart thudding as she struggled to not panic. “Taki!” She called out his name. TAKI: Taki's strength was still slow to return after having been stolen in its entirety by Jonas, and his body was reeling from the shock of experiencing death for fifty seven point eight two seconds. He had been laid up on one of the makeshift beds, where he was still vigilantly working towards the goal of getting his legs to respond to his commands. "Hai?" He perked up at the sound of his name, having to squint across the blurry room; he was almost never seen without his glasses, which now lay shattered somewhere on campus. "Tanja?" He asked tentatively, peering at a nearby lamp. TANJA: The girl smiled broadly as she saw him look around, and she came to sit directly by him. “It’s me, Tanja!” she told him, finally hopeful upon seeing one of her friends safe and well. “Your glasses!” She realised why he was squinting and straining to see her and she took one of his hands. “I’m right here, how bad is your sight?” Tanja asked him, shuffling a little closer so that she could hopefully be seen clearly. TAKI: Taki's pinched face brightened at the confirmation, his hand gratefully squeezing hers. At the bedside he was able to log on to her general form, though from his continued squint and roaming focus he was still pretty hard up for details. "Yes sorry it is not very good," he offered apologetically, managing to sit himself up better with some effort, trying not to wince noticeably. "Please you are safe and unharmed?" He asked urgently, the dull focus of his vision trying to check her for wounds or injuries, but seeing only the general shapes of limbs. TANJA: Tanja nodded, ponytail bobbing up and down, until she realised that he might not be able to see that so well. “I’m safe and unharmed,” she confirmed for him, speaking softly but trying to sound a little upbeat. “What did you do? Who hurt you?” Tanja started to question him, concerned that someone might still be after her friend. She squeezed his hand back. “You’re in the library, and there’s only friends here,” she explained. “What happened?” TAKI: His free hand came up to push his glasses up the bridge of his nose; a reflexive gesture, clearly. "It was Jonas Dufaux." He answered solemnly, "He was going to do a kill and I had to stop him. but he took all of my strength and then I died." He delivered this matter-of-factly, but followed it up brightly with the silver lining, "But then he gives me the resuscitation and he does not do the kill!" He beamed proudly at this victory, despite the little factor of his brief death. TANJA: “Taki!” Tanja glanced around, hoping that no one had heard just how loud she’d said his name in her shock. Her smile faded and her brow furrowed at Taki, clearly distressed by that part of the story far more than anything else that Taki had said. Her other hand went to clasp his. “You died?” Horrified, she shook his hands very gently as she started to speak again. “Don’t you ever do that again!” TAKI: Taki looked sheepish at the chiding, offering a quick, apologetic nod. "Yes okay, I do not think it is a very good idea also. It was not a very fun thing." His lips curled into a tight smile as he offered up a rare joke, both of his hands coming together to squeeze hers, as if to reinforce the promise. TANJA: That frown relaxed and her smile returned as he promised, and she felt a little relieved. Taki wasn’t one to break a promise. Over their time together he’d become one of her very best friends, someone who she trusted even if he did have a knack for getting into trouble. She remembered how he’d gone into a few situations, wanting to play the hero and getting a black eye for his troubles. It was one of the things that she admired the most about him. She hesitated and then leaned forwards, kissing him very gently. It was halting and unannounced, and after that sudden boldness she almost wanted to giggle at herself. “Sorry!” she apologised quickly. Perhaps it had been too far, and in that split second her heart dropped like a stone. Stupid girl, why had she done that? TAKI: His vision was bad enough that the touch of her lips against his caught him a bit off guards, but he didn't need superhuman analytical powers to figure out the situation. His lips quickly softened against hers, and he pressed back boldly, indulging in his first kiss (barring life-saving liplocks from a certain Swiss). Once she pulled back his cheeks reddened furiously, but he still beamed happily. "No it was very nice!" He answered earnestly, giving her hands a squeeze. He frowned a little, squinting. "I would like to do again but I cannot see where your lips are exactly." TANJA: Still smiling, Tanja leaned in close. Their hands were still clasped together and she could see the flush on his cheeks that matched her own slight embarrassment. She paused, and then that boldness took over once again. “Right here,” she informed him smartly, leaning in for a second kiss. |
