WHO: Sam Thompson [USA] and Team Leader Fraser Wolfe [CANADA]
WHAT: Sam wants some answers on the riot
WHEN: Saturday afternoon
WHERE: Wolfe's Office, Administrative Building
STATUS: Complete
NOTE: Squad members see footnote
Sam entered Wolfe's office with his usual military formality, entering with prompt step and saluting, before being given an at ease. With the formality aside he turned to his team leader and the head of Vol Squad with concern. "Sir, I wanted to talk about what happened the other day." Wolfe's expression was heavy with disappointment as he sat back in his chair. "I think I'd like some answers myself." The Canadian man answered diplomatically. "Thirty vols attacking our guards is unacceptable." "Yes sir," Sam's answer was also diplomatic, thought strained with his own doubts. "I agree, but I think that several of those incarcerated were not necessarily involved in the attack. I think they were caught up in the fighting by accident." Wolfe raised a knowing brow, "Your sister?" "No." Sam frowned, "She was involved. She thought she was protecting people. A lot of Vols say that the fighting was instigated by the guards, and they were protecting themselves." "We're looking into this." Wolfe's answer was smooth, but his eyes held a warning that Sam was straying into dangerous territory. "But regardless of how things began, anyone who raised a hand against an IVI official had to be reprimanded. We can't offer any leeway here, and you know that. With things as tense as they are, with the whole Vol Rising thing, we need to be extremely cautious. The guards are on edge enough as is, we can't create an environment where using powers against them is in any way a forgivable offense." "Yes, sir." Sam nodded immediately, "I know. Sorry. But about Mason--" "He's off the Squad." Wolfe interrupted immediately, and there was a hint of anger in his promptness. "We made that perfectly clear at the beginning." "But sir, he had a clear record before this, and he's a valuable--" "Nobody is more disappointed than me, Sam. He's one of my own, and he's the only Squad member to get caught up in this. How does that make me look?" Wolfe caught his voice rising in indignation, and smoothed out his tone. "How does that look for the Squad? It's unfortunate, but again we can't start making exceptions. Mason knew what he was doing, he made a choice. He's off the squad." Sam's lips pursed as further entreaties built up inside of him, but he knew pushing any further would do no good. Instead he nodded, trying not to inject too much dissent into his terse, "Yes sir." "That'll be all, Thompson." [NOTE: At Squad Training on Sunday the group will be informed that Mason has been removed from the group.] |
