Did you see what it looked like after the smoke cleared or were you still out of it?
I couldn't stay, Molly. It felt like I was suffocating, and I wanted to get as far away from it as possible. I had to deliver letters that I didn't really think would have to be delivered. We wrote them because it was a precaution, but the truth was I didn't think any of us would die. We're slayers. We were supposed to be able to take on anything they threw at us. We were an army, and they took us apart. We won, yeah, but it was a hollow victory.
When I found out they already informed my parents I was dead it was the sign I needed that it was over. I'm done with the soldier thing. If the life works for you, that's cool, but I need something better.
So, okay, yeah I'm sorry you had to find out this way that I was all right. But I think it's best that people just figure I'm dead. I'm a ghost. We're all ghosts. Ticking time clock on our lives. Look around you, Kiddo, time is counting down on us. We're not meant to live long lives so we get one chance to live it our way.
Yeah, I took the first rich guy that offered me a way out of risking my life for free. It's the smartest thing I've ever done.
