MINISTRY ANNOUNCES ELECTIONS
layout by [info]lobelia
After weeks of silence on the subject, the Ministry of Magic made a shock announcement today, stating that the new Minister for Magic would be elected by the witches and wizards of Britian for the first time ever.

The decision arose after twelve of the possible candidates for the post turned down the offer, presumably because of the circumstances of death surrounding Kingsley Shacklebolt, the previous Minster for Magic. Rumours have begun to circulate that the position has been irreversibly jinxed.
Prospective candidates for the position are encouraged to step forward with a portfolio. Those who apply for the position will be analysed by the Wizengamot for suitability. It will then come down to the magical people of Britian to vote for who they trust to run the Ministry.

A First-Past-The-Post system will be used, and the Ministry is currently working on unhexable voting quills and parchment. The final vote is scheduled for July 31st, allowign candiates almost a month to persuade the people that they deserve their vote.
