Felix was not used to being addressed by his given name by a man he'd just met. Ladies, yes, in the past had been given that privilege, but even his close friends rarely called him Felix. These days, only his wife and his mother used it. Even his father usually called him by one of his many titles, though it was done with affection. Was using a man's given name normal for a pirate?
Thinking about it, Felix decided that it was likely that most of those in the captain's acquaintance were probably less than honest. And that sort spent a considerable amount of time avoiding their past, which meant leaving behind their family name lest they be tracked down by using it. Somewhat like the prince was currently doing, though for less honorable reasons. It stood to reason, then, that a man's given name was probably the only true name a pirate captain could rely on. He probably got used to doing just that.
Satisfied with his logical solution to the conundrum, Felix then decided to let the familiarity pass without comment. He wouldn't correct the man, but he couldn't bring himself to commit the same transgression. His breeding simply wouldn't allow him to call the pirate James, but neither did he feel comfortable enough in calling him Chriton, as he would with some close friends. Perhaps once they were done with a pint or two, but not yet.
“I suppose we shall find out,” he commented, giving indication that he was agreeable to the choice of pub. It was entirely possible that this was a set up, that the man had some of his crew waiting inside to set upon an unwary traveler. Btu Felix was neither unwary, nor foolish. Which was why he opened the door and gesture for the pirate to precede him inside. “After you, Captain.”
