Hook returned to the table with their drinks. He was a bit surprised when a serving girl brought more drinks and pies. Obviously, this man did not trust Hook to not drug him. Smart man. One should never trust a stranger in a pub.
“You must have a strong thirst, mate,” Hook said. He smiled as he said it, hoping Stone would realize that the pirate was not offended. Not that him being offended would matter to the nobleman. He had yet to meet one of his class that cared about those beneath them.
Hook took a long drink from one of the mugs he had brought to the table. “Where will you be traveling to once your horse is shod? Did you have a destination in mind or just wandering?”
