That made a lot more sense, she supposed. It was good to know the proper way of doing things, but important not to forget the important things. So what was important to Opal?
Well. Being a good person was important. Being helpful and kind and considerate. Being honest, that was very important to Opal. But more than that, she sort of thought it was important not to forget who she was. Oh, she liked some of the things that came with being a princess, but others, not so much. In a way, things were simpler when she was just a peasant girl, because she knew who she was and what she was meant to do. It was harder now, but she should try, somehow, to figure out what she was meant to do now. That was probably important too, and she promised herself to think about that later.
But it seemed like Charles had figured out what he was meant to do, and just who he was. Maybe that was the secret, what made him so confident. But he was also kind and good, so it seemed as though she didn't have to give that up to be a princess. That made her happy.
Opal smiled at the king, and blurted out, "You're a very nice man. I'm glad I got to meet you."
