Opal blinked, not certain how to take what Charles was saying. It was pretty much the direct opposite of how Henry's family seemed to want her to think, and she really wanted to fit it and try to make Henry happy. But Charles was smart and kind and everything a king should be, so he must be right. Yet, how could she ignore what her father-in-law wanted her to learn?
She ate a few pieces of fruit and a slice of cheese, completely swallowing them and washing it down with a sip of wine before she spoke again. Those were the sorts of manners that she hadn't needed to be taught, it just seemed polite. But the others, those she wasn't as sure about learning or ignoring or... she was very confused now.
"Superficial things," Opal repeated. "Like dresses and necklaces? I don't care about those at all. But I don't want to embarrass Henry so the proper things, I should learn them. Shouldn't I?"
