Robin nodded, pleased with the reply. He was an honorable scholar and wished to give his employer a fair dismissal. That spoke well of his ethics, and confirmed that the prince had made a good choice in offering the job to this philosopher. Some of them were a bit flighty.
Lifting one arm perpendicular to his body, he pointed to the south. “That way, a morning’s ride, a half day’s walk. You will see, once you leave this grove, there is a road not far, that will lead you directly to the town. Come straight to the castle, to the guard tower on the west side. Ask for the captain of the guard, Eric, I will leave instructions with him that you are to be escorted to me directly.”
He smiled then. “That way we can avoid all the unnecessary folderol my parents seem overly fond of, and we may simply begin our acquaintance. Unless you prefer pomp and circumstance. In which instance, I’m afraid you may have to do it without me. I will be pretending to be ill to avoid it.”
