Firmly, Ella shook her own head. "Felix, I was never the one looking to marry. When I chose to be around you, it's because I wanted to, and that hasn't changed." She set aside the drink, the refill untouched, so she could put her free hand over where their fingers were entwined. "I've just worried that you and I don't know how to....frankly, we have very little in common, do we?"
Ella sighed, unsure how to put into words the tumult of her emotions. It still stung to know that she had essentially been a pawn, but Felix had done his best to mitigate that. Could she hope for more? "I had wished for us to be friends, if that was possible. Your mother and father, I can see they watch us as hawks, to see how we suit. And how I fare as a princess." She could only do her best, that was all. "I asked about your freedom, as I know you'd like to continue as you were before we married. I don't want you to dance attendance on me."
