When he grinned, Ella felt her own lips curve a bit more, even enough to show her teeth. She schooled it to give him a more serious look. "You, sir, are no gentleman," she chided, raising one eyebrow. "I can only hope that Lady Mary strays only towards teal and chartreuse."
She didn't quite laugh, and she moved away slightly, running her fingers along a few of the spines as if she were choosing among them. Truthfully, she was just unsure how to converse with him socially. It was strangely different when they were alone in their rooms; that was not actual conversation. "I hesitate to detail out my schedule; it's quite numbing. But I was hoping to choose a new book to read this evening before I slept," she said. "And what about you? I thought you had gone hunting." Of course she had inquired after his activities...she did so every day, but she did not want him to feel as though she was being overbearing.
