Uhura didn't have to read it. She could imagine what it said well enough, and that was more than she needed to know. Besides, there were more important things to be tended to than words on a screen. Settling down on the edge of the bed next to him, Uhura reached out and curled her arms around his shoulders, raising a hand to rest on the back of his head. He was taller than her, and this was an awkward angle to sit at considering. But right now, her own comfort was secondary.
"You're not an idiot," Uhura said, a very soft smile on her face as she ran a hand through his hair. "We can't help who we fall in love with. No matter how inappropriate, childish, or stupid it might feel."
She was a woman speaking from experience, after all. What was more inappropriate, childish, and stupid than falling in love with your instructor?
"Maybe he just doesn't understand," Nyota suggested, adding as a quiet tease. "Maybe the linguist should go give mister polymath a lesson on the definition of monogamy?"
