The smile Noah gave his father was likely reassurance enough that he'd opted for the right route to take. Focusing on what had gone wrong likely would have resulted in another bout of tears. Instead, he peered almost proudly down at the griddle for a moment before looking back to Gabriel. "It wasn't too hard," he assured him.
Then he turned back to the griddle and bounced a bit on his toes. "It'll be done soon, right?" he questioned excitedly. "I think I could eat a hundred, I'm so hungry." He took care not to let himself get any closer to the heat as he peered down at his food, his fingers especially staying out of the way. Sneaking a quick, sideways glance at Gabriel, he added softly, sweetly, "Thanks, for not getting mad."
