"Really?" Noah replied, unable to keep the faint surprise from either his voice or his expression when his father actually agreed to let him help. As quickly as the shock had arrived, though, it was replaced with excitement. Bouncing on his toes, he all but trembled with the type of joy that only a small child was capable of showing before scrambling up into the chair before his father could change his mind.
"I'll be extra careful, dad! Promise!" he assured him, sounding much more confident than he probably should. With his broad grin still in place, he bounced a bit more before glancing to Gabriel and holding out his hands for the mixture to pour into the griddle.
If there was any concern he was going to spill it, or burn himself, he clearly wasn't thinking about it at the moment. Then again, in his mind, he knew his dad wouldn't let anything happen to him. It was one of the few things in his new-found surroundings that he could count on, in fact.
