Severus let Remus lie, reason it out and come to a blatant falsehood of a conclusion. When Remus had finished, Severus nodded again, but didn't offer his hand. Instead he moved to were Remus was sitting and sat in the spot next to him, taking out his wand as he did so. They were close, not too close, but that was the closest the two had ever been without trying to hex the other.
Despite how much animosity and bad history there was between the two Severus did feel sorry for the other boy. Severus never thought he would see the day he would care about Remus Lupin, even in the tiniest of measurements - hesitant indifference maybe - but this was more than that, this was actual concern. Severus didn't feel that often for anybody, even himself.
"Lupin, you look like shit, worse than last month," Severus couldn't bring himself to say something as sentimental as Remus shouldn't be blaming himself, it was the truth to be fore, but Severus was stepping far outside his comfort zone already, discussing the physical, outward problems just seemed easier to address at first.
