"Don't touch me," Remus immediately spoke as Sirius stepped forward, relieved when the other boy dropped his hand. He couldn't do this anymore. He just couldn't. It was too bloody much, and he felt like his life was breaking apart in ways he'd never be able to repair. It shook him to the core that he had misjudged Sirius so terribly, and the idea that he was capable of that made him wonder what else he'd been wrong about.
"Don't-" he said again, not wanting to hear Sirius apologise, because he didn't think he could forgive him just then. Not when the pain and fear and mistrust were as fresh as the blood on his face. "Just go away," he said softly, looking down at the floor. "Please...if you ever loved me...just go. Damn it, Sirius...get out!" He didn't want Sirius to see him fall apart, and he would have walked away himself if he weren't almost certain he wouldn't be able to get to his feet again without help. Help he wouldn't ask Sirius for.
