Remus couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was Sirius really so bloody stupid that he couldn't see how deeply he'd hurt him with his thoughtlessness. "One stupid..." he trailed off for a moment before responding, his own voice raising, "Severus could have died, Sirius! I could have killed him! And then what do you think would have happened? I would have gone to Azkaban...or some fanatic would have killed me...because everyone would know what sort of monster I am." Hearing Sirius call it a dark secret, like it was something shameful, broke something inside Remus. "You don't get to hold that over my head, Sirius!" He shouted. "You never accepted what I was! I thought you did, but deep down you've always seen me as a monster...and worse than that, you saw me as something you could use to hurt people! You're just like your bloody family, aren't you?"
