With a brisk nod, Emmeline raised her wand and focused her mind fully on casting the spell. Her stomach gave a small jolt as the words left her lips and the lift shuddered to life, slowly beginning to rise upwards. She felt a bit silly concentrating so hard on such an elementary spell, as she had always done fairly well in Charms. Given the condition of the lift, however, she almost felt as if her and Daisy's lives were in her hands.
After ascending the first foot or two without incident, Emmeline decided it would be safe to make conversation. "You know, I think we're lucky we're only on the first floor," she began. "Do you remember how some of the girls suggested on the journals that we go out to a pub some night? Well, can you imagine trying to do this spell while sloshed?"
