Barely a week. Oh, Christmas. "Cool," she said. "Yeah, I find things. See, a lot of people here ... the ones that are born here, or who move here young enough, kind of pick up something. Guess you'd call it a super power or ... I don't know, there's some other word for it. Here they're just ... quirks. Part of ... you know, the quirky town you're now a part of." But ... she wasn't surprised. She'd always noticed they seemed to have population surges after big events. She figured he wasn't the first newcomer, or the last, who'd be getting this discussion - or some more tactful version of it - in the near future.
"Some people use theirs as part of their jobs. Like one of the girls at the flower shop? She's got a plant dealy," Jaime said, wiggling her fingers slightly. "So, it works. I didn't really want to go into security or investigating or ... whatever, so I went a non-quirk related way with my career, but if people's hellspawn children like to hide their jewelry on them, then I can find it no sweat. I just think about it, ask myself where it is, and boom, there's a tug pulling me the right way until ..." She held up the ring. "There it is."
She regarded him a moment longer. "Did anyone give you the run down on this? I know a lot of people don't bother because hell, no one believes it until they see it for themselves. But if you're ever real curious, go wander around the quarry for a while. That should show you something."
