She somehow wasn't surprised that chaos was back in full swing the day the tourists were leaving. Besides the rain, there was not one, but two squirrel parades crossing her path on the way to work, and one of them led to an almost five minute wait until the last tail had made it safely to the other side of the road. It made her wonder where the hell they all lived when she saw them out in force like this. Eventually she'd made it to work, and she'd handled her morning appointments in a more pleasant mood than usual. Not that she was ever unpleasant to her clients, but one of her regulars happened to notice. She didn't give any details though because it wasn't even a sure thing. It was just a thing that might some day be a thing, but ... it was a nice thing. When she was ready to go for lunch - a two hour break, she saw, since her 1 PM had canceled - she decided to head out to Vinny's. The rain was still falling, just as hard as it had been that morning, so she swapped out her uniform for her street clothes so she didn't get wet or mud splatters or whatever else on her clothes. This left her in snug black jeans and a 3/4 sleeve shirt and sandals. Which meant her feet were probably going to get wet but it was all she had for extras here. After heading across town to Vinny's, she settled herself at one of the tables after placing her order. She watched the rain tracing patterns along the window, even though her phone was next to her. She didn't really expect any texts or anything, but just in case it flashed or something, she wanted to have it out. While watching out the window, she saw another squirrel parade, and she shook her head slightly, a smile on her lips. When the waiter brought her slices over, she offered him a nod before picking up one and taking a little bite out of it, her attention mostly on the falling rain, but aware enough of her surroundings to notice if anyone came close. |
