Beach - Open/Ongoing - Simone
Though the fireworks weren't yet brightening the night sky, the festivities on the beach were well underway and Simone had already done what she felt was the required amount of general socializing before it was acceptable to wander away for a bit. She wouldn't actually leave the party altogether but it was time for a bit of a breather so she pocketed a handful of twizzlers and a few sparklers and wandered down the beach a ways, walking so that the tide splashed around her bare feet as it ebbed and flowed. She was only far enough out for the revellers' din to sound distant and the firelight not to reach when she stopped, satisfied with having her own little slice of beach.
There she made her camp, plopping down unceremoniously in the sand and putting a twizzler in her mouth while she lit a sparkler, watching with guarded amusement as it burnt down. They were useless little things, sparklers, but damn if they weren't still enjoyable. It was the simple pleasures in life, really. The wind whipped the brunette's hair into her face, bringing with it the sounds and smells of the fire. That, too, made her smile. As much as she didn't necessarily feel that she was wholly a part of it, it was heartwarming in a weird way to be surrounded by laughter, or even just to observe the happiness of others. Brushing the bulk of her hair out of her face, she cast her gaze back towards the gathering to watch.
