barty and toby have spent months weeks a bunch of days toting around their mysterious egg children — until today, when they're chilling by the caterpillar's refreshments station and notice something's a little... off.
like maybe the eggs are shifting of their own accord???
like maybe they're HATCHING?!
after some probably-way-too-loud exclamations, the humans lean in to stare at their little charges, smacking each other (and probably passersby too, let's be real) with every new piece of shed shell.
it takes 90 minutes for the creatures—the twins—to slither out of their temporary housing and into a brave new world.
