Thread: Herrick and Connolly
Who ? Herrick Turner and Connolly Conner
Where ? Downtown, streets
When ? Thursday night before curfew.
What ? Meeting the BFF's sister

Now your girl might be sick but my girl sicker. She ride that d**k and she handles her liquor.

Getting back into business was easy. Herrick knew it would be. While he didn't trust banks and kept the majority of his assets liquid...and inside his house, his contacts and business partners were all safely tucked inside his brain. Because of that, while he may not have billions of dollars, he had the capacity to rebuild his empire.

Still it was sad to see it go, knowing that fifteen hundred years of hoarding coins and gold and treasures was now lost.

Trying not to dwell, Herrick did what he did best. He got back to work. It was his first real night back out on the street and already he had over a thousand dollars in his pocket. It was a start. He'd stopped by Shade to check on its progress, having demanded a crew be on site twenty four hours a day to work, and to write in the notebook he always carried around with him. It was a good thing he'd brought it along too or he might have missed out on a great opportunity!

Meandering into the streets he kept an eye out for Mika's sister. He had never seen her before and didn't have much of a description but he was sure he would know her when he saw her. Maybe they would smell the same.

Staying sober for a couple days did not do Connolly any good. She thought it would be a nice change, but staying sober meant she actually comprehended everything. She understood everything. She dwelled on everything. Connolly had one fucked up weekend that seemed to linger more than it should have. Drinking was a way of forgetting and getting over everything.

And she tried.

Smash had kept herself preoccupied with its songs. The acting she wasn't particularly fond of but the songs she loved. Even though Connolly couldn't relate to most of what was being sung, it didn't stop her from singing her heart out around the apartment which drove Mika nuts. Connolly was having fun up until the point she saw her brother offer moon-vomiting boy a job...and Jake. It wasn't that Connolly had anything against Storm, she just felt awkward. They drank, they cracked jokes, they kissed, they snuggled, then he left. Yeah...and then he would soon be working with her too.

However, when the opportunity passed by for some drugs, Connolly couldn't pass it up. All she wanted was some weed, nothing too harmful. She'd leave it up to Storm to get the snacks.

Connolly didn't know what Herrick looked like but she knew he'd find her...vampires could do that right? She had walked downtown and tugged at her leather jacket at the sleeves, covering the new silver bracelet that adorned her thin wrist. Being claimed by Scarlett had proven to be a smart thing as she hadn't been bitten yet...and from what she was told...she couldn't be either. Not without permission.

Shade stood only a few feet from the young woman, a building in progress. Connolly narrowed her blue eyes, looking around to see if anyone would be looking for her. Maybe a sign that said 'Connolly Conner' as she wouldn't put it past the vampire to do something Mika-esque. Unknowingly, she walked past Herrick.

He had anticipated knowing her when he saw her and he hadn't been wrong. It was something about her. The hair. The face. The blood. The smell of liquor. Herrick reacted quicker than he could think, twisting and snatching Connolly by the wrist as she walked past and spinning her around as he turned about face. "There you are!" He announced and even though they had never met and he could still be wrong about her identity, Herrick pulled her against him in a hug. Mostly to cop a feel.

Connolly was Mika's sister and that meant she was off limits. No biting. No fondling. No mean games. No chasing her through the streets. "Connolly, Connolly, Connolly." When he'd had what he wanted he let her go. "I'm Herrick. Here you are, finally, in the flesh." It was customary for him upon meeting anyone that he check them out. Green eyes flickered down to her wrists. Silver. Well, he'd wait for a hint from someone before deciding how he felt about that.

Connolly's first reaction was to throw a punch, but with Herrick's strength and speed of pulling her into a hug, there wasn't much the girl could do. It was as if he hadn't seen in her a million years..and that was true...he hadn't. So how did he know? "Jesus fucking christ!" It was something she wasn't used to, especially with a stranger. But Mika trusted him...so she could too. At least that was her logic.

She felt the hug was a little more than a hug and immediately the girl stiffened a bit. Once let go, she took a couple steps back to get a better look at him. His height. His face. "Yeah..." He was nuts which was something Connolly could actually appreciate, minus the feeling part. She held out her hand to shake his, more in greeting that suited her best. "Nice to meet you."

Connolly frowned a bit. "How did you know it was me?" Apart from the eyes and the liquor, Connolly wasn't sure how anyone could tell she was Mika's sister. But then again...this was a vampire. A crazy one at that.

He would scoff if he knew Connolly was questioning his mental faculties. Herrick didn't think he was crazy. But then again, crazy people never did! That night he looked the way Connolly would come to expect, his usual style of fashion which amounted to black clothing, sometimes (although not tonight) with some pattern or other evening hue, and a mass of silver and gold rings on his fingers. This evening he was wearing a jacket, not because he was cold but because he needed the pockets. His dark hair was finger-combed but not in need of a trim - one of the benefits of living with a hair stylist.

"I know everybody in this town." He explained, shaking her hand vigorously like an anxious dog whose whole nether half wagged because it were too excited to isolate just its tail. "This is my town." Sadly, it wasn't, but he had been here from the beginning. He'd moved in a week after Caprice had set up shop.

Herrick looked simply dressed as the black clothing seemed to flatter the man. Or vampire more rather. Connolly was always asking herself if a person was a man or vampire and sometimes would cross check herself to make sure she knew the difference between the two. "Well I would assume so given your business. Looks like somebody's been talking to let you know what I look like." She chose to go along with his tale, knowing it was probably more than that.

As he shook her hand in such a manner that made her smile, she raised her eyebrows and gave a nod. "Your town?" Part of her wanted to say she burnt down towns. Not literally, but figuratively. From the inside out with its people. It was fun and kept her on her toes...literally. "Well...Herrick...I'd like to buy some stuff from ya. If you're willing." Right to business, even though she was thoroughly amused by his behavior.

"Fuck that shit, little sister." Herrick smiled, the kind of grin that once started could not easily be stopped. His initial impression of Connolly hadn't been a good one, her whining about Shadow Falls and how unfair or unjust it was annoyed him, but as time progressed his opinion had changed. She should be proud of herself even if she hadn't been trying. His feelings about people weren't something that were often revised.

"I'm not going to sell you anything. Mika is like family to me. You're like family to me. Just tell me what you want." As long as it wasn't too dangerous (he did have to look out for her after all), he would be more than happy to supply her. Just enough for her. He was trying to make money here, after all and he didn't know if he liked her friends.

The one thing she hated more was someone thinking they were better than she was...and that was the impression she got from most vampires here at Shadow Falls. That they were better because they weren't human. Maybe being human meant being weak, but Connolly didn't believe in that. She. Was. Not. Weak. Her smile widened as he called her little sister. "Fuck it all."

When he said he would just offer it to her, she didn't know what to say. "You're not?" Connolly frowned. Where the hell was Mika when she needed his ass in LA for this shit? "I just need weed, enough for two." Connolly then took a step closer, feeling a bit more comfortable with him. "So you made me bring my cash without me having to? Well if I had known..." Of course she was joking, as she took out the roll of twenties then put them back in the inside pocket of her leather jacket. "You're a bit of alright."

Alright...so he was cool, like Mika. Just more hyper, if it was ever possible.

Herrick passed a small baggie over to her without making a big deal out of it before he hooked an arm around her shoulders and dragged her off down the street away from Shade, which was no fun right now, and towards down town where all sorts excitement lay ahead of them. "I had you bring your money because now you're going to take me out for a drink!" He had gotten the impression that Connolly was almost as bad when it came to liquor as Mika was...and if that was true, well, they could definitely hang out.

"Why did you come here," He asked, shaking a bit of her hair free where it had gotten caught in one of his many rings. "Not just looking for Mika, I hope Usually people warn their relatives to stay away once they realize what kind of town this is."

Connolly quickly pocketed the stash on the inside of her jacket while following Herrick's lead. Oddly, she felt almost comfortable since he seemed to be so close to her brother. Grinning, she looked up at the vampire and gave a nod. "I could go for a few drinks actually. Lead the way and I shall pay." And if she ran out of money, she'd steal the rest. It was a little too easy at times.

"Mika didn't really keep in contact much. Last time I saw him I was about ten." But the bigger question was why she was there. "I got in trouble and ran. If I wasn't fighting for money, I was stealing it. I stole from the wrong person and left. I ended up here by accident." Moving her hair to the side, she kept in step with Herrick. "I wasn't looking for him. Why are you here anyways?"

"That's a crazy story." Herrick believed her but he couldn't believe it at the same time. She just happened to end up here? Where had Mika come from anyway? The next town over? How funny.

There weren't too many places one could go to for drinks in a place like this, especially since Connolly was a human, so the Black Lion would have to do. He hated giving money to his competitors. "This is my home. I love it here. I moved here when it was first founded. It's like a home base. The source of the Herrick-infection that has seeped out into the world to poison it...and drink its wine." he laughed.

"Not so crazy if you knew what my family is like." He must have known Mika pretty well, but wasn't sure how often Mika spoke of his family back home. "And definitely not so crazy as this place. There are parts that I like and parts that I don't...but I can settle here maybe. Just needs a thing or two." Like a boxing gym, or someone willing to fight or anything other than people being too weird or too scared to stay out and have fun. But Connolly's idea of fun was usually a risk to others.

Connolly laughed along as they entered the Black Lion. She had been here a couple more times before, both instances had encountered vampires. Both good and bad. She left the embrace of his arm and walked up to the bar, ordering several shots of tequila. Last time she drank tequila, it hadn't turned out well, but she was with different company. She looked over her shoulder. "You drinking this with me or did you want something different?"

Was he drinking shots of tequila. Herrick couldn't remember the last time he did. He joined her at the bar and leaned against it, lifting one of the shots as it was poured and holding it towards her in toast before downing it all. Liquor was so much more different than wine. It had a bite. A heat. It didn't taste sweet to him the way Franzia did. "I have nothing against drinking," he said as he pulled another shot towards him. "But this stuff is awful. I think I'm doomed to be a wino until my dying days.

"Mika told me you...were physical." He wasn't sure how else to put it. Mika wanted to invite her to his fight club. "But I'm still not convinced there's such a thing out there as a woman who can truly throw a punch. Slapping is one thing, punching is another entirely."

"Awful, but it works like it should." After a quick cheers, Connolly finished her shot just as fast as Herrick did. She smiled and downed another shot, pulling a third. "Dying? I don't think you have to worry so much. I've never been one for wine, although no one has ever taught me what was good wine and bad wine. It all tastes the same to me." Connolly gave a nod to the bartender to pour some more shots.

Of course Mika did. Connolly took the third shot and looked over to Herrick. "I do like to get...physical." Connolly almost laughed at the way he phrased it. "When Mika disappeared, he was left with three daughters, two of which were very girly. Then there was me. I used to watch boxing matches with him then one day, he took me to his buddy's boxing gym. Things progressed, I went from boxing in a gym to bars to underground boxing matches." And she was damn proud of it too. Perhaps too proud.

"Is this something I need to prove now? Because I can..but we'll have to leave I'm sure, after I've done it."

Herrick laughed and took his second shot, the smile dwindling from his face at the truly horrible taste of tequila and he gestured the bar tender over while holding up two fingers. The man brought him two bottles of wine. Apparently words weren't necessary. "I don't know the difference between good wine and bad wine either. I don't care what it is, I'll drink it." Which was why he like Franzia just as much as that fancy ass shit he'd gotten for his birthday. He took a portable corkscrew from his pocket and opened one of the wine bottles.

"I think you're worrying too much." he told her. "Sure if you were in the company of someone else you may have to leave but I can pretty much go wherever I want in down and do whatever I want while I'm there and no one says shit about it. In fact, it's probably to be expected. So come on." Herrick took a swig from the bottle he'd just opened before setting it down and taking a step back, holding his arms out. "Prove it."

Seeing Herrick got his wine, she took down another shot. More for her. And if she were to be fighting tonight, she fought best when drunk. Connolly was already half way there. Her fingers were drumming on the bartop, grinning as he was explaining he did what he liked, where he liked, and no one gave him shit for it.

Definitely someone Connolly could get along with. They were similar, minus the gender and human part.

There was a sparkle in her eye as he told her to prove it. It was her one chance to let it all out. The frustration. The anger. Fuck...it was just fun. Connolly took off her black leather jacket, laying in on the bartop. She grabbed another shot, downed it and set it back on the bar. He wanted her to prove it.

Connolly got into her stance, fists up near her face. Immediately she shot out with a left jab, then right, left again, then a right uppercut to his jaw.

Herrick was definitely no stranger when it came to fighting women. He didn't do it often but he certainly didn't shy away from it and nothing within him prescribed to the notion that women out to be pampered and treated gently. If he ever had, even at all, the sentiment had gone out the proverbial window for sure after that time a suffragette had broken his nose. Still, he'd never actually met a woman that knew how to fight before. Not like Connolly. He should have known. She was an Irish. And a drunk.

Luckily for him, thankfully, if there was one thing Herrick knew it was how to take a punch. He might not have found the whole evening so amusing if he'd been laid out by a human woman. She was quick, though, he had to give her that, and when he caught her by the forearm after the uppercut he was bleeding from the mouth. He could taste it on his teeth. "Uhm, ow!" he complained with a pink smile. The hand on her arm didn't retreat. "Once, that probably would have been enough."

God it felt good. And it was only just a taste of what she could do, or more rather, what she wanted to do. When he caught her forearm, Connolly immediately brought her left fist for a left hook which was also caught. She then snapped out of it, and all the young woman could do was smile.

He was bleeding, but that was nothing. Her voice sounded a little breathless but it was only from the excitement of actually being able to hit someone. "You said to prove it." The young female Conner then grinned and threw a napkin at the vampire.

"So am I in?"

"Are you in?" Herrick repeated as if he didn't know what she could possibly be talking about as he turned his mouth to his shoulder to wipe off the blood. He didn't want to let her go. He wanted, very much, to show her what he could do. There would definitely be a lot more blood than this. Eventually he let her go for no other reason than Mika. Mika's little sister. Mika's piece of ass. The people Mika surrounded himself with really did conflict with him having a good time.

By then he had stopped bleeding. He rubbed his hands against one another so the warmth from her flesh would linger in his even though it was as fleeting as the damage she had given him. "Did you think this was an interview or something?"

Connolly watched him steadily, the nerves building up once more. He asked her to prove it and judging from the blood, she had succeeded. But there was two ways to a fight. Hitting and then getting hit. She wasn't afraid of being hit, she was afraid of being hit from a vampire. One had already shown with using little strength, her life could be taken instantly.

"You asked me to prove that I could throw a punch. I threw three, you stopped my fourth." The smile faded, her facial expressions becoming quite serious. "Unless you're a sick fuck like me who enjoys a good fight, you really don't mind being hit...even if its from a woman."

Connolly turned and took another shot of tequila. And then another. And another. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. Biting her lower lip, she tested the nerves, not really feeling anything. Connolly took off her leather jacket and set it on the bartop. With fists raised, she turned towards Herrick.

"Come on."

He laughed at the notion of being like her, enjoying fights and being indifferent to assault. Dropping to a seat, he leaned his chin into the open palm of his hand and watched her drink. Herrick hoped he wouldn't have to carry her out of there although he got the feeling he might just have to. "I don't know how similar we are since I don't think enjoying a fight makes you a sick fuck. But I do thrive in conflict and the threat of pain certainly isn't enough to keep me from doing something." A severe understatement, to be true. "It certainly doesn't bother me that you're a woman. The fact that you're a human makes me just a little bashful."

As she turned towards him he turned towards her, rotating in the stool he'd chosen. She held her fists up. He laughed at her. "You want me to hit you? Seriously?"

If Connolly was good at one thing, it was holding her own when drinking. She smiled and gave a nod. "You're fearless." Well of course he was, right? He was a fucking vampire that had very little limits, unlike herself, a human. She clenched her teeth at the thought a she hated being weak, and it was a very real thing, considering the dynamics of Shadow Falls.

"The point of a fight isn't just proving that you can beat someone's ass. Its showing your worth. You throw your punches but you need to learn and train yourself that you can take those punches given." Something she learned from her coach when Connolly became more serious in her training. "Its my way of telling I'm not afraid."

And she wasn't.

Without delay, Connolly put her weight to the back of her left foot as she added momentum to the right jab that landed on Herrick's jaw. "I'm not afraid." Connolly said it simply as she retracted her right fist.

Herrick would, undoubtedly, be insulted if he knew Connolly thought he felt brave because he was immortal. He would insist that he'd always been fearless. He would tell her he had come from a time when glory could be found even in death, sometimes especially because of it, and that was what made him this way.

"I guess I can agree with that to an extent," he hummed thoughtfully, "although it sounds a little different coming from your mouth than I imagine it does in my head." When he had been human, the point of his fights had definitely been to prove himself. They had been for recognition, fame, and just a little bit for the sensation of being punch drunk, the thrill and the blood and the power of holding someone else's life in his dirty, commoner's hands. Just thinking about it this much was turning him on. His knuckles were white from the fist he made with his hand.

And then she'd hit him again.

The timing of it was probably bad.

Again, Herrick caught her retreating wrist with supernatural speed as he rose from the stool quick enough to make it spin on its own. A ringed hand slapped across her face, fingers pressing against her temples as he slammed her down onto the floor of the bar on her back, on top of her like one with vicious intent.

He had amped himself up and she had lit the fuse. "I don't know what to say", he practically purred, "part of me is insulted and the other half wants to take it as a challenge."

The second her wrist was grabbed, Connolly instantly prepared for what was to come. Upon impact of the slap, she instantly became dizzy and could only hear a sharp ringing in her ears. Well that wasn't good. When she opened her eyes, Connolly then realized she was flat on her back wit him on top.

This instantly put her in fight mode if she wasn't already. "Take it however you fucking like. I won't stop." Even if she was pinned, she'd fight. With her left fist, she punched him in the nose, hoping it'd hurt enough for him to lean back. All she needed was that small bit of leeway to get off her back and back on her own two feet.

Connolly didn't have any reason to be afraid, not really, not with Herrick, but she probably should exercise more caution when dealing with vampires. Herrick was ready for a fight now and some back lash was expected, pain was expected, and adrenaline did a lot to overcome the result of the strike. Already his head had cleared from the previous wounds, the split skin healed, and smeared blood was all that remained to prove there had even been a thrown punch before that one.

Herrick wrestled Connolly's hands to the ground, pinned her wrists to the bar floor and leaned over her. He buried his nose in her hair along her throat and slid his attention up behind her ear taking in a deep breath of her smell. Ah, a woman. It had been too long since he'd had a female beneath him. All of these years playing around with men and boys had forced him to forget how much of a delight the fairer sex truly was. She smelled delicious. She smelled like tequila.

Oh, he wanted to bite her. What would Mika say about it? Was she even claimed? Herrick didn't know. "I know you want to be brave," he hummed against her skin, murmuring to her ear so his lips broke against her skin, "but given your position you should also be smart, little sister."

Connolly shivered as he got close and closed her eyees as he smelled her hair. Was he going to bite? She hadn't been bitten before, not even by her claimer. Connolly would never admit it outloud, but she was afraid of it ever happening.

She breathed slowly, calming herself down, as much as she wanted to move from beneath him and kick him in the balls. "And give up?" Connolly frowned. It was unlike her to just give up a fight, but he was right.

Connolly turned her head away from Herrick, and in a very serious and stern voice, she spoke. "Get off of me."

"Please." Herrick corrected her. "Get off of me please." He was loathed to do so. Everything told him to stay put, to stay exactly where he was, to pull the collar of her shirt away from her throat or to tug her jeans down to her knees, find a vein and sink his teeth right in. He didn't need to feed but his stomach growled at the promise of a hot spurt of blood running down his throat and spattering across his face.

Agonized, he growled and stood up like a sexually frustrated teenager whose conscience had gotten the best of him after the prom queen had passed out in the middle of their miracle make out session. Dammit, Mika! He looked down at her with a distinct frown but held a hand out to help her up although he doubted she'd take it. He wouldn't take it. "Just don't die because you're proud."

Connolly didn't bother repeating the word please. She wouldn't. She didn't understand his growling as he got off. And she really didn't care. The fact was, he was off.

As he extended his hand, Connolly looked at it and ignored the gesture. She got up on her own. "Then what else do I die for?" She didn't quite understand his meaning as the only thing she had left was her pride. "Take away my pride and I don't have much else." Connolly reached for another shot.
