What happens after darkness falls? What if Voldemort had never marked Harry Potter as his equal? What if a long and drawn out war had ensued, with a less than glorious ending? What if the Order of the Phoenix had ultimately failed? The year is 1998. It has been 10 years since the Dark Lord overthrew the Order of the Phoenix and the Ministry of Magic, securing his hold on the wizarding world. Those who stood against him must remain underground or in hiding for fear of persecution; those who fought alongside him have been generously rewarded and hold positions of power in the world as it now stands. Death Eaters comb the streets, murdering innocent people for sport. All muggle-born and half-blood witches and wizards are forced to be placed on a registry, no longer allowed to attend Hogwarts and limited in their magical ability. Werewolves and other dark creatures have met a similar fate, treated as second rate citizens and largely unwelcome in places where the more ‘well to do’ members of society dwell. The Ministry of Magic rules all, and Azkaban is the ultimate punishment for even the most minor of crimes. Though they lost the first war, the Order of the Phoenix has not given up. They remain an organized society of people who work tirelessly to finally overthrow the Dark Lord and his purest ways. Will they succeed? Or will the world remain forever in darkness?
