The Fruitful Project Original Character. Future. Arranged Marriage. 17 & Up. In the year 2010 the world was plagued by the full effect of Global Warming. No country was spared, and no one could imagine the speed in which it came. Within months entire cities were underwater, drier than deserts, or completely leveled. Thousands died and there was no end in sight. Many lost hope until 2020 when the Eden Project was founded. The Eden Project was a last ditch effort by the human race. Surviving scientists came up with a chemical, a gas called 'Eden' that would hopefully cool the atmosphere enough to put a stop to the catastrophes happening around the world. Slowly but surely the temperature began to drop and the storms slowed. In the time between the beginning of the storms to the launch of the Eden Project, the world population had dropped from nearly seven billion to a little below five. It was another six years before the effect of the 'Eden' chemical was known. It began in 2028. There were suddenly less children being born and by the end of 2029, pregnancies stopped all together. The men and women of the world were now completely sterile. It was soon discovered that the Eden chemical was the cause of the sterilization, that the one thing that had saved the world had also doomed it to an inevitable ending, the population destined to dwindle down to nothing. Now in 2048, after the population has dropped to below three billion, a solution has been found. The same lab that came up with the Eden project has been working for the past nineteen years to reverse the devastating effects without destroying the clean and near perfect atmosphere of Earth. The Fruitful project was a serum, a cure that reversed the sterilization but only in people below the age of thirty. The Global Government is taking a drastic step to increase the population. The Governments of the world began to administer the serum by either offering it for people to take willingly or slipping it into the water. To further insure that the population will continue to grow, a global law has been put into place. A marriage law. The Fruitful Law. Every healthy, non-married person between the ages of nineteen and twenty-nine are to be married, whether by choice or by Government selection. The couple will have a one year period at the most after their marriage to conceive. The Fruitful project is for the betterment of our world. Who will be your match? A note about the mods: The mods at Fruitful are experienced players who have seen their fair share of fantastic games...and the not-so fantastic games. First and foremost, they are players who want to be a part of an active, successful game. They are here to listen to your opinions, and to create a community of players, not just a game for characters to be played in. Most towns and cities are fortified in some way to protect their water sources and any crops they can grow. Though there is democracy in the USEA, the military is really in control and their presence is known and respected. They're in charge of supplies and goods coming in and out of each town and all the towns' communications centers, defense, hospitals, etc. Some are grateful for military governing, others are resentful. Some are deeply religious, some atheist. Nomadic tribes still roam the lands, some associated with other countries and regions, some associated to no one but themselves, but all looking to ransack, pillage and destroy the cities and unprotected villages they come across in their journeys. Age limit: None, but please understand that adult situations may occur. PG-13 to R rating at the moment.
Starting date: January 2009 though applications are open and if there is enough interest the game could open sooner.
Other details:

• The time frame is somewhat mod-controlled (two weeks "real time" is equal to one week "game time") to accommodate those with real life obligations - school, family, etc.
• This game is semi-anonymous. The mod is anonymous and the players are encouraged to remain anonymous. We don’t need to know who you are or even how many characters you actually have. We just need you to participate. Not only is the sharing of any information of a personal nature not needed, it is discouraged. This concept can protect players from drama or other online problems as well as stopping the formation of player-based cliques. So many people are tired of seeing the same people playing together in every game and ignoring the chance to make new ties. That is not the spirit of gaming. We don’t want to know you; we want to know your character(s). If you choose to share your personal information, that is your choice, but there will be no contact list nor will there be a list of who has what characters. If a person chooses to remain anonymous, please honor that.

Every decision we make closes as many doors as it opens. But regardless of what paths we choose, and what paths we do not, Time flows onwards. Just as a frayed cord has many strands, each person exists in different divergent Timestreams, all stemming from the Main Timestream of the temporal flow. Outside of the Timestreams, there is the Nexus, where people arrive when they are plucked from the main thread of their lives at decisive points - days they die, start new jobs, etc., and there they remain as their lives continue in the Main Timestream. People are grouped their with those from similar times so people from different eras do not clash. For each group, the Nexus looks like a familiar location. With only the knowledge of their lives up to that point, they meet friends and family, lovers or enemies, masters or servants - other souls who must adjust to life outside of Time. Sometimes, these meetings bring joy. Sometimes they bring sorrow. But always, they bring opportunities. How you use those opportunities is up to you. 'Trip the Rift' is a journal-based RP set in the Harry Potter fandom, restricted to those characters who were born between the years 1800 and 2050 AD. Players have the freedom to pick the precise moment their characters arrive at the Nexus, which is patterned after a large city dating from the period. But with that choice comes a consequence. Each character will only know their history up to that point. Pick someone towards the end of his or her life, and that character will know much more about people, places, and events than a contemporary who arrives at a much younger age. For example, if you chose to play Regulus Black and you had him arrive at the Nexus before he decided to betray Voldemort, he would be a loyal Death Eater. He wouldn't know anything about his actions with respect to the Horcrux, and he would be shocked to learn he had defied the Dark Lord. Or, let's say you chose to play Hermione Granger, and you had her arrive at the Nexus several days after the birth of her daughter, Rose. She would not know that she had another child afterwards. How will they react to learning about the deeds committed by their 'main Timestream' selves? Will they embrace family and friends they meet for the first time, or will they shy away from them, since they're effectively strangers? Will enemies still be enemies if only one of the parties knows what the others have done? The answers to those questions, and more, are up to you.
