Her concern startled him. He hadn't been expecting anyone to care about him. Somewhere in his mind, he felt like he didn't deserve it. He'd given up on life when he'd decided not to fight back the night before. It was time for him to stop running, apparently.
"Sounds like he was a very lucky man," he told her. "I don't plan on it. Just need something to take the edge off." He didn't really mean the pain, although it was still smarting. Shots to the groin usually did for awhile.
