Maybelline Bennett ([info]whycantyoubetru) wrote in [info]inpoormerit,
Belle had seen her share bad in this world, but that didn't do anything against her faith. Just because God was good, didn't mean people weren't bad all on their own. Good people were more common then people thought though, which is what she tried to always remember.

"Well, I kinda got sidetracked," she admitted with a knowing grin as she added some beer and more flour to the batter she was mixing up. Belle chuckled. "That was what side tracked me. Well, he first saw me at a gig I had in Knoxville, although it was after the show he introduced himself. I thought he had a sexy accent and well, he's still easy on the eyes. Real gentleman, but still a little wild on the inside. Everything about us just clicked. Cooper needed a lodestone, something to anchor him so he didn't just drift away. I was pretty lost myself, my career was going nowhere and I spent far too much time drinkin' and singin' and not doing much of anything useful with myself."

Belle laughed at herself. "And here I am talkin' your ear off, and not letting you get a word in edgewise. What about you, got a man back home?" She kind of hoped not, since they didn't know how long they'd be stuck here, but a pretty young thing like Grace ought not be alone.
