Gor, too, had slept in, in part because he didn't really see any point to waking up. He had either suffered some sort of deranged psychotic break, or he had been kidnapped to be in, what? Some bizarre spy movie?
Gor had to admit to himself that if he and his friends had been brought to this location to attend a birthday party, it would be pretty awesome. Right now, it just seemed very, very strange, a little frightening, and utterly bewildering.
Not one to usually step out onto the beach, Gor was, nonetheless, driven to escape the strange little town. Until things were sorted out, he wanted to stay out of the way. This was 2010. People didn't just disappear, and populations didn't just appear on islands. The world had been explored. Someone was bound to notice something amiss.
Hoping to get a feel for where they were, at least, the teenaged boy stepped onto the sand. Instantly, he felt the tiny grains slip into his tennis shoes, and he frowned down at his feet. The great outdoors -- ew. Lifting his eyes, he noticed something on the beach: a small shell. He scooped it out of the sand and turned it over, curiously inspecting it -- only to have its inhabit, a tiny crab, poke out and clip him with its claw. Gor released an embarrassingly loud cry of alarm and dropped the cursed item back onto the sand where he had found it.
