Abject Humiliation
Who: Colin and Mina
Where: Trying to get back to Alfa-2
When: Morning

Okay, now all he had to do was get back to his cabin, take a shower, and put on clean clothes and... And he was at a loss from there, because what the hell, he'd nearly been eaten by the girl he'd gone to go help who'd been turned into a snake thing.

"It had to be snakes," he muttered to himself, trying to ignore how fucking disgusting he felt. He'd wet himself in fear. Of course, if that Scottish kid hadn't shown up and stopped her, he'd be dead. Snake chow.

"God, this is fucked up..." Colin continued in that frustrated mutter. As if saying it out loud was making it any better.

Once more Mina was out for her morning walk since there was really absolutely nothing else to do on this fucking island unless she wanted to go out into the woods to get herself eaten or some shit like that. Yeah, not happening. And she didn't want to talk to that Ben asshole again. Couldn't even stand up for himself. Whatever. Men. They were lame.

Her morning walk was exactly the reason that she ended up coming up behind Colin. The first thing that hit her was... a smell. A really bad smell. Boy needed to bathe more clearly. As she rounded past him, she couldn't help but glance back... and then burst into a giggle fit, doubling over. It took her only a few seconds to get the words, "What the fuck happened to you?" out.

	"A snake thing?" Mina repeated, obviously not believing him. Really, who would? She rolled her eyes as he snapped at her further and she crossed her arms, stubbornness setting in. Yeah, she was going to keep bothering him now. "No, I don't think I will now. Which cottage are you headed to?" She assumed he was heading back to his cottage anyhow. 	Yeah, he didn't want to believe it either. Except he'd been wrapped in its coils and it'd tried to eat him. No, she'd tried to eat him. Because that snake thing was Gwyn. This was so fucked up. He hadn't even attempted to explain but that didn't really matter. There was a sense of duty sparking in her... How horrible would it be for someone to see her in such an embarrassing situation? More often than not, it would've been photographed and published. He was lucky. Mina sighed heavily and grabbed him by the arm, pulling him down the road and towards her cottage, "Come on. Better get you inside before anyone else sees you. You can borrow my shower and I'll go get you clean... everything if you tell me where your place is."

Of course he didn't attempt to explain. She didn't believe him, she wouldn't believe him if he explained more. He didn't want to believe him and he'd just lived through it.

Yeah, he was lucky he'd almost gotten eaten alive and pissed his pants in fear. Right. Why wouldn't this bitch leave him alone.

"I am going back to my cabin," he told her. "I'm gonna take a shower, put on clean clothes and I don't know... Get fucking drunk until this place makes sense. I don't need somebody holding my hand for this. Leave me the fuck alone. Please."

Mina hadn't exactly let go through his tirade and was still doing her damnedest to drag him down the road, "Listen to me, blondie bear... I'm not holding your hand. I'm trying to get you inside before anyone else sees you and you get even more embarrassed. My place is Kilo-1. What's yours?" Considering she hadn't really seen him around on her walks, she assumed it was further away than Kilo. "I know what I'd feel like in your shoes... and I know it would be a million fucking times worse so I'm just trying to help you."

"Alfa-2," he snapped, trying to pull his arm free without hurting her. She was a girl after all.

Her comments were making his already stressed out brains melt down further. "Yeah, because this is worst of our problems! Are you nuts? They turned Gwyn into a snake monster. She almost goddamned ate me. And now she's thinking God hates her and people are disappearing and they're turning us into monsters. Jesus!"

She let him go, frowning. Yeah, she'd been right. He was much further away. Mina pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to fight off her forming headache. It was too damned early for this. "Well then, it's even better that you aren't alone so you don't go do something stupid, huh? You can't change what happened but damned if you should deal with the rest alone." Why was she pushing this, she wanted to know. She should have been happy that he wanted to be left alone! Stupid humanity seeping under her shell.

Yeah. Because not letting him go deal with his embarrassment was kinder. "I'm not going to do something stupid!" he insisted. "I am going to go back to my assigned fucking prison cell, take off the clothes I pissed in terror because a snake...person almost ate me, take a goddamned shower, but on clean clothes and...I don't know, fucking hide under the covers and wish for death. I do not need help with this. Really."

It wasn't a matter of not letting him deal with it! It was a matter of him getting to deal with it quicker and before anyone else saw him. Stupid boy. Mina scoffed slightly, shaking her head, "God. The one time I try to be fucking nice to someone... Thanks for reminding me why I fucking hate humanity." She crossed her arms in front of her stomach, closing in on herself and turning away from him to head down the sidewalk at a fairly average pace - not trying to escape, not hoping he'd follow.

He was trying to deal with it quicker and she was stopping him! And now she was fucking guilt tripping him because he wanted her to leave him the hell alone so he could go wash up in peace.

"Fucking Christ!" he snapped. "First Gwyn blames me for her almost killing me and now you're blaming me for wanting to be left the hell alone when I'm humiliated and going fucking insane because this place doesn't stop getting less fucked up at all! Jesus!"

And now he was ranting in the middle of the road. He had to be going crazy. Fuck, at this point, he wanted to be going crazy because that made more sense than all of this.

God he was dumb. He was seriously, seriously stupid. All over he was dumb. And now he was raving like a mad man.

She stopped and turned back to watch him, eyes narrowed. "Of course it doesn't stop getting fucked up. It's not going to stop but raving and ranting about it isn't going to help. But trying to help each other and get into groups might even just a little bit.

"And if you took a step back and looked at what I was doing, you would see that I was trying to help prevent you from being even more humiliated in case you ran into someone else. Instead, you're going to stand around and bitch and moan and not at all help yourself not look like a kicked damn puppy."

He was not dumb. He wasn't a genius. But he also wasn't a five year old boy who couldn't change his own pissed pants.

"The only reason I'm ranting and raving and not home in the shower now is because you tried to drag me off to your place to do God only knows what! If this were the sane world, I wouldn't have any problem going home with a hot chick offering to help me. Under the circumstances, I'm a little fucking paranoid. I just almost got slaughtered by a humanoid version of the thing that scares me the fucking most. So sorry, yeah, freaking the fuck out here and just wanting to go do something sane. Like take a shower. By myself. Because nearly getting killed once in one day is enough. Okay?"

Mina rubbed her face with her hands, grumbling in frustration, "To do God only knows what? How about shove you in a shower that's closer than your place and then go fetch you clothes while you do it? I have no interest in anything else with you! I don't even know your fucking name. And if you haven't noticed, I am not a giant ass snake or anything else! If you want to check me, go ahead! I don't have fangs or scales or little square patches missing anywhere on my body." Hey, she'd been paying attention to the journals - thanks much.

Okay, he couldn't take this. "Sorry, but I'm 25 damned years old," he reminded her. "And my name is Colin. Now I'm going to my prison to go shove myself into my shower. Thanks for being concerned."

Now, he was going back to his cabin and really just go to bed. Maybe this day had all been a horrible damn nightmare and he'd wake up tomorrow and...he didn't know. Right now, he didn't care.
