The pigtails were a bit disconcerting, but Cathair really couldn't judge the way other people wore their hair, considering.

He didn't miss the knife either and was actually glad she wasn't answering her door unarmed. Not that he'd expect her to with the life she'd lived and what had already been done to her.

He surrendered the plate and a bottle to her, closing the door with his heel and checking to make sure the locks were fastened. Yes, he could have said no, but he didn't want to. He'd never really met anyone he could relate to before. Both of his lives, he'd isolated himself to protect himself and others. And she was a female in distress, even though she'd never admit to it, and he couldn't resist that.

But it was different with Eden than it would be with another girl. It was more like helping out a friend in need than looking after someone who was helpless. Cathair never had allowed himself many friends. Odd that he'd start making them here so easily.

"No worries," he assured her. "I want to help, what little I can do." He held up the plate he was carrying slightly. "I brought dinner as well. Chicken and vegetables and beans. That one is from Belle herself. Said to give it to you."

He gave Eden a small smile. "With a rather knowing look as well," he added wryly.
