Belle relaxed a little, but shook her head. "Yeah, well, unless you're gonna make one big enough for everybody, that's not a good idea. I don't wanna test to see if this jackass is serious about punishing somebody else for my escape attempt. Because he probably is."

Actually, she hadn't. "No, there ain't been no planes for two days," she told him. "Ain't heard or seen any. Nobody else has said they have neither. Somehow, I figure people who are smart enough to kidnap cops and military men outta their own beds probably would have thought about that."
