Penny just sort of shrugged. The comment had been more small talk than an actual request, ya know, like telling someone to put in a good word for ya in any other context. If this girl wanted to go out of her way, it was up to her. She'd take a long haul off of her drink.
In terms of the sniffing, Penny had no idea that it was awkward. Then again, she had spent most of her life alone in the woods with her immediate family. Family members could do bizarre things like sniff each other. Sober Penny, of course, was too shy to be strange... but drunk Penny, well, she wasn't so good at understanding that there were lines that shouldn't be crossed -- well, at least not the part where that line moved depending on how close you were with someone.
"Well, that sucks. I guess you gotta try and find your own before its assigned, though, right?"
