More Halloween-event discussion!
Because I have been postponing this long enough. |DDD
So, there were ideas everywhere in the previous post, I thought of a couple more and it's about time we do some voting to decide on stuff like date, event duration and such.
1. Event type: This one seems to be unanimous: world gates open, dead people come out and the living come in. Fourth-wall time. If anyone would prefer to have it differently, though, state so here.
2. Event start: The logical answer would be the weekend of Halloween, of course; possibly on Saturday, the 31st. Again, if anyone has different ideas, please to be sharing them.
3. Event duration: Quite a few ideas here: it could span through a day, the weekend, a whole week or we could leave the event post(s) open indefinitely..
4. Event mechanics: i. Posting: Whether it should be played in a journal-to-journal basis or in a single log (the Ouran cast's in-game Halloween event), posted in the proper community. ii. Fourth-walling: Whether or not we'll be taking personal journals - which is the reason why it's called fourth-walling, in the first place. This one wasn't talked about before. iii. Guests: Whether our guests will be dead upon stepping into Midian territories or not.
5. Event aftermath: Whether or not characters will remember what happened and who they met during the event. It wasn't discussed before, either.
As for my own preferences and reasons, I'll list them under a cut because this is long enough as it is:
1. I love the whole gates opening idea. And I'm totally partial to it, as it was my own idea a year ago. |DD So yeah. 2. Given the nature of the event, I think it would be best to start it on the actual night of Halloween, even though I might not be here by then. It wouldn't be mandatory for everyone to start posting on Saturday, for whatever reasons they may have, and for those who will play on Saturday, they don't have to start doing so at night, either. That's what future-dating is for. 3. OPEN FOREVER. I mean, it would only be one day in-gamely, but meta-gamely, we can keep threading for as long as needed-- really, I think most of us have other games / online stuff / life(?) to be taking care of, so it would be cool to be able to tag at our own convenience. 4. i. Log-based, plz. I don't think there's enough of us to do journal-based, so a log is enough. And in the far-fetched event that comments get maxed out(!), we can always open a new one. ii. Again, given the nature of the event, I don't think personal journals would do well here-- especially so if we go with the log option, which means people will be interacting face-to-face, as opposed to journal-based, where it makes more sense that real people would get to interact with characters. iii. KILL THEM ALL, I SAY. :DDDb No, I have no reason for this. I just like killing characters, apparently. 5. Memories must be kept~! For the sheer WTF/crack/emo factor! :DD
