Days had passed since leaving Meggie alone to wander the Labyrinth and Jareth had left her alone to do so. This time was going to be different. No threats, no baby to ransom, perhaps even that loathsome Hogwart would be fooled by his charade. She was welcome at the Goblin City but she had to make it through the Labyrinth on her own. The choice was her own and she could come and go as she pleased. He turned a crystal ball in his hand to scry her location and lifted an eyebrow as he watched.
She was alone, staring upward at the seemingly winding archways. This, of course was an illusion meant to distract a wanderer from the proper path and meant to lure the eye away from the ground which contained trap doors and chutes that lead to an oubliette. The puzzled young woman was falling right into his trap. A satisfied smile curled onto his lips as he lifted his chin, thinking of the poor, helpless young woman in the dark, dank oubliette and he, coming to her rescue.
