Meggie stared with wide, blinking eyes up at the otherworldly visage before her. Entrapped and entranced in his mesmeric gaze Meggie could do naught for a moment but stare openly, gawking like a deer in headlights and trying desperately to find her mouth and close it. It was an impossible challenge for what seemed eons, there in the hazy shelter of the great maze. Finally though she located her brain and managed out at least what she hoped enough to sort part of the conundrum before her. All the books in the world could not have given her enough preparation to somehow sort out what the owl had turned into. "you... Huh... Goblin city?" Then realizing that perhaps that wasn't going to provide as much of an answer as she'd wanted Meggie added... •I'm not. Which is to say I'm here, yes, but I sort of fell here. Right out there." Meggie pointed out to the nearby entrance which to her startled reflection seemed much the farther than her feet told her should be the ready distance.
"And then, you know... I didn't know it was private property, but I've lost my father and just about everyone and..." Meggie's eyes began to well and she tightened up her fists not wanting to lose composure. She didn't quite know how to continue so Meggie settled for staring at her shoes instead.
