Dean & Aly
He certainly had a lightheartedness about him, didn't he? It was nice to see, to be around, as lately things had been far too serious and heavy for her. A very powerful man looking after her, friends putting themselves in the line of fire, a clearly unhappy twin sister, and Aly, just trying to keep from having a nervous breakdown at work. It was nice to be around someone who offered her carefree fun and a little bit of light humor. "I'll have to keep it in mind the next time I have a day off. It sounds like fun." Smiling, there was a slight flush that colored her cheeks in the wake of her words as she sipped on the beverage he had brought her.
Aly was even more surprised when he answered her question with such honesty and ease. It both fully satiated the inquiry, and provided her with what felt like a very generous amount of background information on the man in front of her as well. In a world where most people were guarded, it was strange to see someone so open. Not that she was complaining, of course. Especially when he explained exactly why he spent so much time in such a dreary place. Though there was the slightest pang of jealousy at him escaping this fate, though in the end, that easily vanished and was replaced by overwhelming warmth and happiness that sometimes miracles did happen. That someone so kindhearted was able to escape. Something so simple was one of the many reasons why Alys still had hope. "It must be difficult for you to see people you love and care about so much like this. But it takes a strength to stick around and be there for them as well. I know it may not seem like it to you but considering all of the people who have turned their backs, it doesn't go unnoticed."
Maybe she was being a little too deep. "Sorry, I wasn't trying to be... I don't know what I'm saying, nevermind," she laughed, a half nervous, half embarrassed sound as she tugged at the ends of her hair. "Thank you for indulging me though."
