Dean & Aly
Dean laughed good-naturedly at the idea of him being a good role model. Yeah, he didn't think he was the worst those kids could do, but he also thought they could probably do better to. "Honestly, I just show up to give Penny a break and let them run around and be kids for a while. I've been teaching them how to play footie." he shrugged a little again before popping a little bit of food in his mouth and chewing thoroughly before going on with the conversation. "They're good kids, I just want them to...be kids for a while." he admitted honestly. Dean was never ashamed of his views on this, and often spoke about it. He had a real soft spot for kids, and it was the only way he could think of helping without getting anyone in trouble. If it was too awful to let them outside, he sometimes did an art lesson with them, but it wasn't anywhere as consistent as he would like.
"Exactly." he replied cheerfully to her reply. "Want a refill?" he asked automatically, but no less genuine, when he spotted her empty cup. "My mum used to say the same thing. Everyone has value and some talent to help." he admitted, though not exactly conceding the point. Because a tactician he was not. Dean was just really good at following orders and was lucky enough to be given a voice if he thought something wasn't exactly right or had a question. "But it's good to know that there are still people around that think like that." he shot Aly a friendly wink and popped a little more food into his mouth.
