Derek had a feeling in his gut when another team of newer recruits were asked to go to the Maiden Head. He had tried to get the assignment subtly, but figured it wasn't worth putting himself on Rookwood's radar like that. What he didn't expect though, was for one of them to come back with a broken nose, raging at the boss about the bitch in charge down at the brothel. Honestly, Derek had to hide a smirk, but when Rookwood put out word that follow up would be requested, especially to figure out what went down and if charges needed to be pressed, he couldn't keep his mouth shut anymore. All he saw happening in that situation was another asshole who wanted to bring down the newfound rights of the Maiden Head workers getting them in trouble somehow. Most likely because it was egged on, and Derek didn't take too kindly to the thought of that.
Since he was working the night shift anyhow, he stepped in, admitting he was at least familiar with the place, if they all knew what he meant. The annoying smirk he had to wear and the small snickers and pats on the back kind of disgusted him, but he let it slide. Easier to have them think what they wanted then admit he was friends with most of the workers. Well, more than that. They were almost like adopted family, in a way.
Heading down after dinner, the place was hopping. It was certainly busier hours around 10:30 PM. All the children of married Purebloods were in bed, and their wives were either busy with their own activities, or also about to crash. He moved towards the bar, asking Tilly where he might find Seren, the look on his face clearly showing this wasn't a happy visit. After being pointed in her direction, Derek made his way towards the office, knocking at the door several times before pushing it open, his large frame taking up the doorway as he leaned in it.
"You got a spare minute there, Capper?"
