A large part of Ernie enjoyed the fact that he didn't often had to go to the Hospital on any sort of regular basis and never more than he absolutely had to. He always liked to frame it as he would rather do training and further education at St. Mungo's for two reasons, the first being that's where he received his training and he had worked up a good report with the instructors and other healers there, and two simply because he didn't wish to bother the higher end clientele that resided at Parkinsons. What he left out was that he didn't want to bother them by snapping completely and saying and/or doing things he knew wouldn't be allowed in any sort of situation. So really, to Ernie, it was everyone's best interest that he not go there more than what was absolutely necessary. And given that the general feeling of the little clinic that he worked in was that of gum on the bottom of one's shoe, they usually left him alone. Except when they made him jump through hoops and write pointless proposals about funding for things like updated equipment, new cauldrons, and other such basic magical needs. But to keep up appearances, Ernie wrote the damn reports that they all knew would get rejected eventually, because in order to actually help the people Ernie did those in charge would have to actually consider the lower class citizens actually people in the first place. And as far as he could tell, the upper echelons did not consider them people.
Ernie actually managed to leave a little bit early before he had meant to, a rare luxury, and decided that maybe he should walk there. It was still dark out, and honestly, Ernie just lit the end of his wand and kept an eye out as he steeled himself for what was about to happen. Ernie had grown up around some of these people, despite growing up in the Highlands away from a lot of it. He'd been around enough of it though to understand how these games were played, and have a very healthy hatred of how it all worked. That being said, he usually kept his opinions to himself because right now, it would be all too dangerous to let loose. The closer he got to the Hospital, the more he retreated into that headspace that let him remain calm in a crisis. Because that's exactly how he was going to treat this meeting. A crisis about a proposal he'd turned in weeks ago. No, this was going to call for a triage and then action applying logic, skill, and using his gut to guide him through this. Knowing full well that after he was going to be more exhausted than he usually was after a long day.
So, upon arrival he went through the usual rigamarole in getting in and making his way to Adelaide's office. After checking in with her assistant he politely knocked on her door and waited until he was allowed entrance, focusing on his breathing and reminding himself that he could do this. He'd done much harder things in his life, so, yes, he could get through one meeting.
