Ministry favours Muggleborns?
By Rita Skeeter, Reporter
Following a recent flurry of rumours and suppositions this past week at the Ministry, a spokesperson announced yesterday the ratification of a new law. Set to be a subsection of the previous Muggleborn and Crimes Against Magic regulations, the new laws outline a clear and distinct handling of the Muggleborn situation. Created in the aftermath of recent activity in Diagon Alley regarding the Muggleborns, the new law is set to handle the matter in a different manner with certain interpretations of the law hinting at further releases and shortening of sentences for those convicted.
Not set to come into effect until the 1st of March, the legislation will see drastic changes in the structure of the Ministry and may see the re-appeal of various decisions by the Wizengamot. Review of cases will begin next week as the Supreme Lord promises more openness and a clearer definition of past measures and their application to case law.
Opponents of the new law decry their leniency stating that the minister is only pandering to Muggleborn rights groups. Ministry officials say that the step is in the right direction but deny that this was as a result of outside pressures. Full text of the law - Page 7
