A wicked smile flickered on her face as she let her eyes scan his face. He looked so uneasy, so on edge, when he was around her. A part of her was thrilled by this fact, because she loved having that effect on anyone, let alone a boy who usually wore an undistinguishable mask. She bit the corner of her lip and nodded off in the direction of the door. There was still little distance between them, because Jackie still hadn’t made a move away from him. She should have. It was stupid and reckless, this self-destructive behaviour, but she couldn’t help herself.
“Come on,” she said. It would have been easy, fun even, if she could reach for his hand to take it and lead him out, but she wasn’t quite willing to risk it. “We’ll go to my place. My sis’ will be workin’ late, so there won’t be anyone interruptin’ us.” She winked; her expression extremely playful. He knew as well as she did that there wouldn’t be anything to interrupt except conversation. Strangely, Jackie was okay with that, and besides, there was no harm in insinuating something.
She finally took a few steps backward and began leading the way out of the strip club, zipping up her jacket as she walked.
