Wednesday is Maintenance Day!
Hello, hello, and how is everyone on this craptastic Wednesday?
I know, I know. We're all having days (week-so-fars?) from hell. I'd like to blame Tuesday, but I'm not sure Tuesday can actually suck muses this hard. 'cause. damn. It'll be better when September is over, maybe?
Anyway!
I have done some maintenance on the rules page. I've added a section to better outline our expectations for the game (the section titled "will you fit in here"), and I've added a section under the posting rules to address continuity issues because I've had/seen at least three players ruffle my/someone's continuity in the course of the game. Nothing major and all involved players were awesome at cooperating to smooth it out, so kudos to all of you, but I just wanted to have it in black and white so we know what style goes for this game for future players who run into the question.
(under "posting rules")
In group threads, please preserve continuity. If A and B are talking, please do not create a tree to address A or B; either leave it open for A or B (or D or X or Q) to tag into at their leisure, or tag into the thread A and B are already in if you are specifically seeking interaction from A and/or B. In open threads in which one person has already tagged into the thread the same rule applies unless you have already discussed otherwise with the players involved.
(New section)
Will You Fit In Here?
If you tend to drop threads, you will not be a good fit here. If you routinely take more then 3-4 days to return a tag, you will not be a good fit here. If you hate threading, you will definitely not be a good fit here. If you "play to win" in an RPG, you won't fit here. Your character cannot "win" this situation. If you're the type of player that likes to look for loopholes in rules and exploit them, you will not fit in here. If you have to have everything scripted before you can play, you will not fit in here. If you are here entirely to ship, you will not fit in here. If you have poor grammar, spelling, and no grasp on proper punctuation, you will not fit in here.
However, if you enjoy threading, writing collaboratively with other players, telling stories, developing your character organically, and replying promptly to your tags (when life allows, of course; we aren't ogres :) ), then we can't wait to see your application.
Since we changed the activity requirements without ample warning, we will allow the one-thread-per-character rule to slide for October checks provided you've been otherwise active. If you have a lot of dropped threads, however, you will not pass checks. If you have not signed in to acknowledge you've read the new activity requirements, please make sure you do so.
These requirements will be in place for the November checks.
All righty, guys. That's it for maintenance this week. I think everything's up to date and whatnot.
