Dementors, aaah!
All righty. Someday, I think I'll learn not to do plot writeups at obnoxious hours of the AM, but that day is not tonight.
We already have candles in play; Jaime found 'em. (This is become dementors make the lights go out)
There will be loads of chocolate stocked to the store and the mall; someone else can find that any time after right now. (this is because it helps people recover from dementor-induced depressions)
The lottery will give clues to what's coming; there should be a network post going up about that later today, whichever character wants to take that. Jaime asked all three of 'em to post things, so ... fight amongst yourselves. >:D
On Monday, as far as I'm aware, the first dementor will be found when Sev saves Scully from it.
After that, it is dementors, whoa!
They'll follow a similar pattern to the reavers; one on Monday, three (total) on Tuesday, seven (total) on Wednesday, twelve (total) on Thursday, and 25 (total) on Friday. Saturday they will be gone.
Dementors are immortal and cannot be harmed by physical means, so there is no ammo drop for this one. This one's going to rely on the wizards who can make patronuses. Patronii? It has been established in-game that Balthazar (and presumably Dave) can maintain one if a wizard/witch casts it, though it drains the casting witch/wizard slightly more than if they were maintaining it themselves.
We also get to contend with the full moon on Thursday, so there will be two patronus-casters absent for that night since Tris and Remus are going furry.
The dementors are going to be surrounding the hotel and being all floaty and emotion-sucky. If a person gets in reach of one and is not saved, they may have their soul sucked. Mod discussion has stated that given the unique nature of Isadora and Iridia, she's immune to the kiss since ... her soul's outside her body. If a character gets their soul-sucked, they are not going to be killed; they will simply be emotionless living shells. Their personality and everything that makes them "them" will be gone.
The presence of the dementors should be affecting every human character with a soul. The dementors' presence will create lots of bad-feeling, making a person revisit their worst memories. There will be depression, and if it's in your character's nature to attempt suicide, now's the time for that. Just ... label things and request a save if you want them to live ;)
The effects will be less at the start of the week, since one can easily be held off by a single patronus. Their constant presence, however, will have a compounding effect, so by Friday ... the whole island will be miserable. >:D The chocolate will help lessen the effects somewhat, but it doesn't make them go away.
The following characters are exempt from dementor-effect:
Dug
Ambrosius
Cheshire Cat
Oy
If you have any questions/need clarification/think I got something wrong/your character doesn't have a soul per canon and you want to discuss effects ... comment and we'll discuss.
ETA Dementors are invisible to everyone but the wizards/spell-casters. See, because I miss glaringly obvious things is why I shouldn't write up plots at 2 am.
ETA 2 Dementors can be heard, and they cause cold. Cold, not colds. XD So even though they cannot be seen by non-wizards, they can be sensed.
For those interested, a sneak-peak of where they'll be moving to next month can be found here
