Wednesday is Maintenance Day!
Usually it's Thursday, I know, but I'm trying it out on Wednesday to see how it fits.
First, I'd like to kick off with reminders. People, please remember to tag things when you tag into them. Titles, too, but I think we're all golden there.
Second, if you haven't signed in with your point of canon, please do so. For the record, Tim, Mike, Alex, and Briege, you're the only ones who haven't. To everyone else who has signed in there, thank you. I know it's a pain, but I appreciate it.
Third, checks start on Friday. From Friday you will have one week to get a thread in. EVERYONE currently in-game will be required to sign in with a thread or be removed from the game. Those of you with multiple characters who have threaded with most but not all may be asked to drop a character or two until we feel you're more consistently meeting activity requirements. If you have a thread started after 8/20 or one that has been worked on since then, you're fine. We only require one -- though more is always better.
If you have no intention of threading and intend to wait out activity checks to be dropkicked from the game, please don't. If you know the game is not a good fit, please do the adult thing and let me know rather than making us wait the extra week. I know not every game is a fit for everyone, and there will be no hard feelings if you need to drop ID.
Fourth, dropped threads. We've been getting a few complaints about people dropping threads. This isn't cool. It makes people feel really crappy when their thread gets dropped. If you aren't feeling the line, or want to wrap it up, or it's been an obnoxiously long time since your last tag and you don't feel comfortable tagging back, talk to the other player. No one here bites, I promise. Figure out what the likely conclusion of the thread was, amend the header, and move on. That way, everyone walks away happy rather than someone wondering what they did wrong or why they suck so bad you had to stop replying to them but are still replying to other people.
If there are extenuating circumstances, let us know as soon as you can. We don't even need details. Just a "hey, RL smacked me, it'll be a while before I can get to that tag" is fine. Just so we know and aren't left wondering.
We do have a "!dropped" tag, and you're encouraged to use this if you feel someone has dropped your thread. My personal wait time is a week unless I'm aware of extenuating circumstances. After a week, I consider the thread dropped. If someone is consistently dropping threads, we will intervene and see what we can do to help fix the problem, or suggest that ID isn't a good fit for the player.
Fifth, direction. I have had an itch to relocate everyone to greener pastures. Obviously, we'd tie this into some plot arc, but I'm curious if anyone else is interested in a change of scenery. We were toying with the idea of roommates -- for those who wanted them, as some of us are not crazy about forced roommate situations. Anything like that though would necessitate a move to a new hotel, which they wouldn't be able to do on this island. So if we're at all interested in a new place with possible roommates (and possibly IC sign-ups for roommates >:D ) let me know and we'll hammer out details. If the idea completely blows and you have no interest in it, let me know that, too. ;)
Sixth, plot. The lottery is all set up, woo! The participants have been rolled, the .wav has been made, the puzzles are ready to be viewed. Before that, however, comes the kidnapping. If you haven't volunteered, there's still time to here. The captives will be taken on Monday night, opening to reactions on Tuesday morning. They will be returned Friday night, in time for lottery excitement on Saturday morning.
There will be a more detailed writeup this weekend for plot details and questions then.
All right. Think that about covers our maintenance update. If you have questions, suggestions, etc, go ahead and comment. You're welcome to use the drop box or hit my personal e-mail if you'd rather it not be broadcast.
