B-b-bullets! (or, teal deer is teal but important; please read it all)
Okay.

IJ is failing with notifications, but I have Mandy back at least for tonight, so, whatever IJ, whatever. (However, that does mean I'm not getting drop-box comments, so until IJ straightens up, e-mail's probably going to be the faster way to get in touch).

The Heads have, very very late tonight, stashed ammo around the place. Can your character find it? Absolutely. Some of it, however, has been hidden in the upstairs rooms that no one is in (6th floor and up). Please, for the love of all that's holy, please do not have your character "know" where the ammo is. Unless your character has that particular skill. Which none of yours does. 'cept Jaime. Who will totes find the bullets if someone wants to ask her ;)

For purpose of me knowing what sort of weapons are already in play, any character with a gun, please comment here. Weapons were limited to two upon capture, so no, Jayne does not have his entire arsenal (he only has one, actually. Poor bastard). If your character canonically does not typically carry a gun, they do not have one here. If they occasionally use someone else's gun, or have their gun only on special missions, we'll discuss whether or not they have it here. This also goes for any other weapons I haven't already approved.

Jayne and Mal like, sleep with their guns XD so they have them.

There has also been a display set up in the mall. It is very much a glass case display (like, jewelry stores) and a glass fronted cabinet display. Within the cabinet display are five rifles. Within the glass case display are grenades. As Jayne is leaning heavily on me at mention of grenades, I think I shall have to lay claim to some of those for him. Ahem. But yes, Parker can go hog wild and steal from the mall and hopefully distribute the guns. ;)

There is no ammunition present for the rifles in, on, near, or around the display case. It's somewhere else. Because they can't make this easy, now can they?

There is also a cache of arrows scattered throughout the mall, but since that mostly just affects me and mine, dun worry about it. Unless you want to find an arrow in a dressing room or something and bring it to Susan because she's going to die without it you love her.

As mentioned here, the attacks start on Tuesday. Groups will be small at first, growing larger as the week goes on. So, Tuesday, no more than 5 reavers, Wednesday, maybe up to 9, Thursday and Friday can both be 15. They don't have to be in the same group, and yes, they can be hiding in the stores to "ambush" characters. Please also put in your headers the number of reavers encountered/killed, so we can have a guestimate as far as how many have been released that day. If it's Tuesday and people have already taken out 5 reavers, please date your reaver post for Wednesday.

Injuries are kind of a given, but please understand your characters are going to be dealing with bestial, vicious creatures that put fear even into hardened soldiers. Our soft kids are not very likely to survive an attack unless they have someone come save them very, very quickly. Hell, even our tough kids are going to get a little torn up if they don't move fast enough. If you wish to engage with a reaver and your character is not adequately armed, I'd better see some injuries, and some trauma. If you don't want to play with reavers, there'll be safe places within the hotel.

There's going to be at least one character death on my end, and Mandy hasn't finished sorting out if any of hers are going to die.

As far as other means of defeating them ... we'll pull super-werewolf rules as far as magic goes. They're going to be resistant to it. A stunning spell won't make them blink. Crucio will make them giggle. They self-mutilate, so pain? Is not going to bother them. Avada Kedavra will work if it's very well placed and very well meant (so Bellatrix could probably swing it, Reg might be able to, but I'm going to go with not so much on the others). However, spells that focus on the environment and not the reavers themselves could be used as impediments and blockades. A shield charm won't keep them back for more than a few seconds, but it could buy time.

Covenant magic ... will work. It will not wipe them out entirely, but it will be able to knock them back and (briefly) bind them up. Longer, if the boys work together. It's not going to be a defeat sort of magic, but more a defensive/holding off sort.

Not sure about Magius' magic, if you wanted to discuss that, as far as what he'd be able to do, or if he wants to hang back and be all 'defensive spells, i knows them!'

Tasers will work to a degree, I think. They are still technically human and a fried nervous system is a fried nervous system, so it'll buy a couple of seconds for a lucky escape.

What else have we got out there? Swords? Swords will work. Arrows will slow them down, and if it's an eye shot, will kill them.

Physical attacks are going to be the most dangerous and will result in the most return damage, even for Slayers. ;) And really, Slayers and River are about the only ones I'd buy surviving an attack, and only if it's a one-on-one affair with the Slayer having the upper hand at the start or getting very lucky.

If you would like to do posts as narratives, that's fine. If you want to have a reaver attack and leave it open for someone to join, also fine (it also wouldn't hurt to suggest a few characters you'd like to join the thread; all of mine come when called and you're certainly welcome to ask other players if they'd like to play). If you want me to play a reaver for you, also note that in the header and I will get my gore on and come after you. Rawr!

Afterward, we shall need doctors. House won't be alone. I'm totally pitching in a Simon Tam. I think. That was what we decided, right? Because you were still keeping Kaylee? And Lily can play healer. So yeah, if they wanted to see about setting up a temporary "just in case" hospital once the IC network posts go up, that's gravy.

Okay. There are so many reasons I shouldn't be writing up this post right now, early hour and rambling aside. I think I hit everything, but I have undoubtedly skimmed right over some glaringly obvious thing that everyone's going to have questions about. So if something isn't clear, and moreover if you disagree with my perspective on your pup's canon, please, please mention it. If you really think your character can handle more than I've said they can, honestly, let me know and I'll be happy to switch it around. I'm really not familiar with a lot of canons in game, and while I do expect it to be played out realistically, that does include realism per other canons. If your character routinely comes up against something in canon that's more badass killer than reavers and they eat them for breakfast, do let me know ;)

If you need anything clarified, or want to throw some if-thens at me, please shout out. (like: if this, then could that?) And please remember, your characters know nothing. They are all working on speculation and theories right now. So they do not know the first attack will be Tuesday, and they do not know anything about the patterns or the safe guards, and they do not know the traps are disabled for the duration of this plot (because wow, wouldn't that make the Heads look dumb, getting reavers caught in their own traps?) They are welcome to discover by trial and error, and they can see the things in plain sight (the mall display, the ammo they come across in the convenience store or the mall, etc), but they don't know why any of it is around.

As always, all plots are optional. Your character is totally welcome to chill with Jaime, Kyle, and Dug in one of the safe rooms and avoid the whole mess. (...okay. I just totally had images of them trying to teach Dug to use the potty because they weren't letting him out for a walk ... ::cracks up:: )

OMG IT SAYS SOMEWHERE UP THERE THAT THERE IS GOING TO BE A SIMON THIS MAKES ME GLEEFUL. And yes I am keeping Kaylee. To not do that thing that we discussed and decided was never going to happen *nodnod*

Also, Say and Tink are dying. Possibly more, but them for sure. I have not figured out... how yet, exactly, but they're dead.

I am also really, really tempted to app pups just to kill them off you know? I do not know what has happened to me. I used to be all "NU NO DYING" and now i am like, "REAVERS! REAVERS CAN MASSACRE MY PUPS AND IT WILL BE AWESOME!"

You have corrupted me.

Yeah. I should probably put him on the list. he may even have a bio from ... wherever I played him before if we were being good and writing bios and making ourselves not be hypocrites. But i bet not because I am bio!lazy.

Tink got swallowed by a reaver when she tried to scold it.

and Lol. sadist. I have corrupted you. isn't the dark side wonderful, with its nommy nommy cookies?

She was definitely a snack. She got eated. But as for the how, I'm not sure. She may have been trying to help someone by floating them out of reach and had to get close to do it and got swatted out of the air and nommed or it might have been in one of the first attacks and she was just floating by.

...

I have visions of flying reavers now.

I am very curious as to who gets to be first attack. All of mine are calling "not it" and Jayne's the only one of mine who'd probably survive first attack.

unless Susan was walking around with someone who could barely survive it. And the attack comes so fast that she's gone before they can blink, and then said person manages to come away scratched and collapse in the stronghold that the group is going to set up, all dramatically, and be all, "r...reavers."

1. For Parker's taser will she have her off job taser (self defense mostly) or her on job taser (my thinking is she has a more deadly model while on jobs)? Plus going from the epsiodes I have on TiVo Eliot has taught her some self defense (The Tap Out Job is coming to mind).
2. When can Parker go on a weapons run? She's happy dancing at getting to steal again (and could she just volunteer to go after the weapons once she stumbles upon the display?). Plus on most epsiodes when she goes into thief mode there's usually a challenge or two a la the lazers from The First David Job.
3. Since Violet is an inventor can she do something to help? She could also help the doctors given her skill in science (and she's willing to learn whatever she needs to learn too).
4. What can Ed do? I think since the anime she's had weapons training and whatever she's picked up on her travels but she's more net girl.
5. Are the Reavers anything like the Weevils from Torchwood (for Gwen)? Otherwise should she be thinking Daleks and Cybermen?

1) which one did she have on her when she was kidnapped? Which one hangs around her house?
2) As soon as it's brought about IC. Cryptic hints will go up tonight, and ... if someone stumbles across it in the mall, by all means. It's there after Sam's network post goes up.
3) As always, what do you want her to do? I need ideas from you. You've been presented with the situation, it's your character. You tell me: can Violet help? Recalling that she has no prior knowledge of what's about to happen, but once the attacks start, what can she do given her resources?
4) Probably hide.
5) reavers are this. I don't know what Weevils are; I'm not familiar with your fandoms.
6) You can totally post Violet's next tag in the lottery thread if you wanted. They're possibly going into the room now. :)

1. She has the off job model on her all the time and the on job model would be in her place. But she would need a power source for the high powered model.
2. Parker will volunteer once someone finds the display.
3. Violet can come up with defense ideas on the dime since I've got one of the novels close by (I can link a wiki on her if more is needed too). Otherwise she can help from behind the scenes since someone will freak about her only being 17.
5. http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Weevil and more on Who-verse creatures are in the wiki (its one of the best for the Doctor Who world). As for her gun Gwen has a standard police issue (mostly since Torchwood has never given an exact make of gun she uses).
6. She's on the way :)

1) so she has her normal one then.
2) Volunteering is not required. It's ... kind of just there. First come first serve and all that.
3) Yes. Several people will be attempting to corral the under 18s to a safe room.
5) Okay

1. Yup
2. Parker's voice is like,"I'm going on a weapons run once the display is found".
3. Violet is going to resent being treated like a child and will react with,"I have a brain and I am not a child!".

mmm, teal deer at almost four AM. Coherence, let's see if I has it.

Per Firefly canon ... Jayne and Mal and anyone sane fear reavers. however, River took out thirty of them all by herself with two blades and an extreme desire to protect her brother. (Idk. Mandy said thirty and there were definitely a mess of them). Very basically, they're enraged/berserk humans who have an exceptional tolerance for pain given their self-mutilating tendencies.

That said, I think if he was alone and was up against one, and was surprised, he'd suffer some injuries. If he managed to get in a couple of shots first, he'd probably come out fine. Depending on what they arm the reavers with. They generally don't have guns, so it's blades and teeth, giving unsurprised gunmen the advantage unless they get swarmed. Which is usually how the bad things go down - in a swarm.

So if you threw him up against two and he managed to wound one while contending with the other, that would probably be close to the unconscious-pain level, depending on where he got bit/sliced and how much blood was spurting. Coming up on a solo reaver's not going to be a horrible fight. Put him (and maybe a couple others) against a group of three or more, the chaos factor creeps in and opens the door to more injuries with the added bonus of possible friendly fire damage, depending on who's shooting and who's where.

And yes, I would totally guide if we did NPC reaver stuff.

We're going to be winging a lot of it ourselves. ::nods:: but definitely, we can do something. Maybe after the first wave, they start patrols or something, so he and Jayne can be out patrolling, on their way back or something, and get sprung at by three of them. Even with both of them having guns, the surprise factor's going to result in a couple of ouchies. And Spike can get ouchied bad enough that Jayne has to half-drag him back while still watching out for reavers. Because that will absolutely thrill Jayne. He's already glaring at me.

Unless you wanted to put it closer toward the end of the week to have a bigger sort of group? 'cause I'm flexi either way.

As far as Magius's magic, we should definitely talk, because it's mostly a matter of when and where he is when attacked, and how much time he has to cast spells, and who else is around to have to worry about... and so forth. He has some nasty little numbers in his magic belt, even restricted as he is, and he is skilled in combat magic, having come from a time of outright war between wizards, monsters, and dragons who were being directed by an Evil Goddess.

With Lily's warning, he will definitely be studying his more offensive spells during this period of time, which he has not been doing before now as much, since he wanted to be ready for both fighting and other things.

He would mostly be all about protecting others, so would volunteer for defensive guarding of others, and offensive strikes to take out enemies, as long as he had a warrior or two to help guard his back while he cast spells. With someone like Mal and Jayne at his side, and their bullets with his magic, he would have a good chance of taking out a lot of enemy, but alone, he would be less effective, being able to cast one good spell or so, then fleeing a ways, then casting another and fleeing, and so on.

So, yes... whatever you want him to do, he can sort of fill in holes for different adventure points, randomly, and is definitely up for having some minor wounding, or even major, toward the end.

::nods:: I think a lot of the planning stuff is going to hinge on what happens IC when people figure out that there is a legit threat, after the first attack on Tuesday. Lily, Tyler, and Jaime are all kind of leaving planning up to people better equipped for it. jaime's going to be in a safe place, like, at all times, and Lily's mostly going to be working defense in the event reavers get inside. Tyler's going to find someone with a gun and hangout with them XD

So depending at what we're looking at as far as who's playing offense and who's on defense, we'll see where to stick him and how to keep him alive.

Time Agent Wrist-Strap
A 51st Century multi-purpose wrist-mounted device worn and operated by Jack Harkness. The range and limits of the device are unknown, though it is known it can function as a remote control, a short-distance communication device (including a built-in holographic projector which also allows voicemail) and a personal teleporter. It also had a Vortex Manipulator built-in to allow time travel (though jumping approximately 198,231 years caused it to burn out).

At the end of "Last of the Time Lords" The Doctor disables Jack's Vortex Manipulator but left the device's other functions intact. Jack got his wrist-strap to work as a teleporter again in the Doctor Who episode "The Stolen Earth", only for the Doctor to deactivate it once more in "Journey's End".

It is revealed in "Children of Earth" that the wriststrap is practically indestructible, having survived an explosion that destroyed the Torchwood Hub.
