RP: New week, New trial
Characters: Lily, Salem
Time/Date: 7:30ish AM, Monday November 8
Location: Kitchen, stores, kitchen
Warnings/Rating: None
Summary: Lily discovers this week's adventure
Status: Complete

Lily stifled a yawn as she made her way down from her room to the lobby. She checked the directory first, but didn't notice anything amiss. Rolling her shoulders, she started back to the kitchen. She drew open the door of the fridge and quirked a brow when she noticed ... lots of water bottles, but nothing else.

Not having a very good feeling about this, Lily turned toward the cabinets, opening them in turn. Nothing, nothing ... spices, nothing. A faint laugh crossed her lips before she turned to leave the kitchen. Hurrying across the lobby, Lily ducked out the front door of the hotel. It wasn't raining, and the scattering of clouds across the sky appeared to be drifting away. Maybe they'd at least have a sunny day?

Easing into the convenience store, Lily shook her head. The aisle were devoid of any sort of food. There was flour, cooking oil, salt and condiments, but no actual food. The refrigerated cabinets were barren of anything save water. So they'd have plenty to drink, but nothing to eat -- presumably for the entirety of the week.

Lovely.

On a whim, Lily ducked across to the mall, and from there she made her way to the various huts -- just in case. But there was nothing there. Nothing. No food.

Emerald eyes shifted to the jungle and her lips pursed slightly. She supposed she'd have to see if she could interest some people in hunting. There were things in the jungle. Or ... fishing. They could fish, right? She supposed they'd try that first before resorting to ... snake. Lily pulled a face at the thought of it before she turned to head back into the lobby. She'd toss up something on the network so everyone would be aware of the situation and not be looking for breakfast when they came downstairs.

Salem slipped down the stairs, humming softly to himself. He trotted along, quite happy to be healthy and able to eat again. He smirked as he saw the lobby, then smiled a more normal smile as he saw someone else. With a leap, he hopped to a large chair and meowed.

"Good morning, Lily! How are you on this fine morning?" His voice was cheerful and quite full of life, and he was bouncy in the extreme. This was going to be a very good day!

Lily glanced up from her contemplations when she heard the cat's voice. "Good morning, love," she replied.

She made an almost idle gesture toward the kitchen with one hand. "I do hope you're in a hunting sort of mood today," she began. "It appears this week's trial is surviving without their supplies. We have water, and spices, but nothing else to speak of."

A soft exhalation was somewhere between a laugh and a sob before she shook her head. She honestly didn't even know how to feel about this. They could survive, certainly, but she didn't for a moment imagine it was going to be pleasant.

He stopped, and blinked, and stared.

"They took our food?" There was growing outrage in his voice, and something a little like hysteria. "After a week of making me afraid of food, with less than a day of being able to eat, they took our food?" H was almost yelling full voice by that last word, eyes a vivid version of their usual color, tail straight up in the air and rigid, and fur standing on end.

Salem swore, then, in several different languages, and his claws shredded the top of the chair before be managed to get a hold of his self control. "Somehow, someday, I will make them pay for this. I swear it." Anger from the deepest root of him was in every line of his voice as he spoke, but the eyes he turned to Lily were fully in control, and utterly full of promise.

"I'll go hunting. And I pity any snake or animal that gets in my way."

Lily wasn't surprised by his reaction. If she'd had it in her still, she would have raged as well. As it was, she was simply resigned to her role here. "I'm going to see about getting some people together to go fishing as well. Between the lot of us, I'm sure we can manage to ... catch enough food to last us for the week."

If they went out every day and figured out the best way to catch the fish or set traps for the larger things in the jungle.

She did have to make a little face when he mentioned catching a snake. She wasn't sure what it was, why snake was so different from fish in terms of 'acceptable' food, but there it was.

On the bright side, at least there were fewer of them here now than there'd been even a week ago.

Salem forced his eyes closed, and then slowly opened them, breathing. He had to maintain control if he was going hunting, especially here.

"Understood. Make sure people are careful. If they took our food, they might have made getting more harder too, or more dangerous."

He leaped off the chair and then looked up at her. "I don't want to lose any more of us." Something about being pushed to this edge, to this point, centered Salem, and filled him with resolve.

"And if you see Mercy, please tell her I'd like her to see if there are any big time sedatives in the infirmary, like for animals. With dangerous things to hunt, setting traps may be the only way to make things even."

She almost wanted to protest that idea -- why would they make it harder for them to hunt? -- but she thought he had the right of it. Obviously, they were left with two options -- starving, or hunting. Since no one would voluntarily starve to death, hunting and fishing was going to be an obstacle, right?

"I'll ask her," Lily assured the cat. "You should ... be careful," she added, her brows furrowing. Was he going out now, by himself? "Most of the things out there can eat you," she added.

Salem's eyes glittered and a chair, albeit a small one, rose and moved across the room, stopping just short of the wall. "I can't do much, but I can do a little. And I wont be hunting just for myself, which means I can use everything they left me for this."

He paused, then nodded. "And I'll be careful. I promise. I've been around a long time. I'll surprise the bastards yet."

She smiled softly to the cat before she nodded. She supposed she should go about spreading the word and maybe talking to Simon about any sort of contingency plans they could come up with.

"Well, I wish you the best of luck then, love," she said quietly before she ran her fingers lightly through her hair. She shook her head slightly before she turned toward the stairs. She'd start with Balthazar and Jaime and Mal, and Tyler, and go from there as far as alerting the others and getting together a hunting party.

He smiled a little at that. "Be safe." And he turned, staring outside, and plotting what to do and how to do it. Definitely something interesting...
