The week was nearly over, and Katrina was beginning to relax. Generally, if something was going to happen, it happened earlier in the week. If anything was happening, it wasn't happening to her or Ichabod, and that was enough to relax her just a little. Of course she did feel bad for anyone who was having things happen to them, but she, at least, was exempt for now.
Settling into one of the chairs in the library, Katrina rested the book on her lap but didn't yet open it up. Instead, she gazed thoughtfully at the fireplace. Someone had started one, though it looked in need of tending. Setting the book on the chair, she found some of the chopped wood and set a piece into the blaze, carefully shifting it with the poker to ensure it wouldn't roll out.
With that accomplished, she retreated to her chair. Once again, the book rested across her lap as she gazed at the fire. Watching the flames lick and leap, she let her mind drift and wander as she wondered what the future was going to hold for them. If escape was possible, and if it was, they surely wouldn't be able to return home. Not to their time, not to their place. Not to young Masbath. Not to their house. Katrina's expression shifted to one of sorrow as she wondered if she would risk freedom or remain waiting for hope of a return to her proper home.
What, she wondered, would Ichabod want to do?
